I want to say this is why I try to tell people it's okay to criticize Klaus when he does terrible things because if it wasn't for how awful Klaus still was at the end of season 2, his evolution into the man he is in season 3 wouldn't mean as much. The fact he finally starts to see things from Hayley's perspective, doesn't immediately turn to icing out Davina when he's threatened, his apology to Hayley at the end of this episode and finally his sacrifice he took full well knowing he'd be the one to face the full consequences of Marcel's ire and be away from his daughter Hope. All that has significantly less impact if we can't acknowledge the man Klaus used to be. He went from being the most selfish creature on planet Earth that treated people like objects to be used at his discretion to a man, a father, who put his siblings, and his daughter above his own well being and allowed himself to be tortured for God knows how long so his family could be safe. Klaus for maybe the first time in his life lived up to his end of Always and Forever and finally saw what Elijah told him in the pilot that his daughter, not power, would be his family's hope. Klaus has finally evolved into a character I can truly call our show's hero and a character I can embrace loving. Not because he's a good villain, because he's a good man, a good father, a good brother, and a good human being.
