I think I've stated this before but a recent conversation with someone brought it up. I love the fillers in Supernatural. I, a lot of the times prefer the fillers over the actual storyline.

2020-02-26 23:31:52 +0000 UTCSo the gag is that Rufus claims to be jewish. In the faith the sabbath is set aside as a day of rest and worship as Samantha said. Nothing that resembles work of any kind is to be done from sundown Friday to sundown saturday. The more faithful the follower the more strictly they follow this rule. But this seems to be a rule of convenience for Rufus when he wants an excuse to not dig a grave or do anything else physically taxing or just gross.
