Kate lost her father and she probably sees Clint as a way to fill the void of the positive male role model in her life and not just as her icon. The only thing that would've made it more dramatically effective would be if Clint's kids were dead. But that probably would've been too dark and melodramatic. They wouldn't do that and I completely understand. Still...

It really adds to the idea that he's a (mostly) normal human being in very extraordinary and stressful circumstances. It's what makes him unique among the Avengers.

2021-11-24 13:25:38 +0000 UTCI guess you don't remember. At the end of Age of Ultron, Laura Barton was showing Natasha a video of Clint's newborn in a shirt with his name on it. It said Nathaniel Pietro Barton. He was named for his best friend and the man who saved his life.
