If it was a 4k version, maybe it wasn't doing HDR tone mapping properly. That'd likely be an issue with the app that was used to play it. Check for updated version? I know VLC had issues with HDR tone mapping at one point.

I dunno how it happened, I got her a 4k version of the movie. It looks MUCH better on my end. I checked it on all my screens and it looked nothing like how it looked on hers.

Hmm yeah your copy of the movie looked really washed out. I've got just a 1080p version and it looks much much more vibrant.

I have to say that the camera in the bus not having audio has to do with either the requirement for less bandwidth (remember this is still early 90's) or lower cost and wouldn't have anything to do with recording people's voices. It's only illegal if where they are speaking they have a "reasonable expectation of privacy" ... like your phone example. But in public, like a public bus, there is no reasonable expectation of privacy so you can record video and audio.

Yes, it's a stressful movie and tone, because it was an action movie/thriller. The point is to make you feel like the intensity of the situation they're in. The fact that you felt that means the movie did its job. Saying that though, maybe this type of movie isn't for you.

When Jack says "Yeah, but I'm taller..." he was making a joke about the bad guy being a "head" shorter.

Always felt the 2525 bus deserved a bit more respect in the film. Perhaps even a single line of dialogue praising it's sturdiness. Wouldn't surprise me if all the characters were presented with a keepsake from the wreck . In the future, you might consider Keanu and Sandra's second film together, The Lake House (2006). I think you would enjoy this more gentle rom-com.

I might say a few things about the stunts and effects, I am far from an expert but I am 100% certain the train/subway derailment was miniatures, while the plane being blown up by the bus was practical, but I would have to rewatch to double check. The bus being jumped was practical but of course only about 2-3 feet off the ground I would say, they added boards to the edge to get the front wheels to lift higher you can see them flying off on impact, but in real life they would have been large cement blocks

Absolute classic. I run down some of your questions This was the movie that put Sandra Bullock on the map, while Keanu was already well know after doing Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure, it's sequel and Bramm Stoker's Dracula, Dennis Hopper the bad guy very well regarded in his own right mainly played bad guys. Why lift him by his nose well you try pushing your nose up it bloody hurts it's actually a technique used in self defense to break away from an attacker. Actually the one thing in the movie that holds up. He didn't install the camera on the bus it was installed either in manufacturing or by the bus company for security reasons hence he didn't have any sound, it's actually illegal to record peoples voices without there consent. it's why you need a judges order to be able to record phone calls. Why didn't he slow down the train because without brakes the train wouldn't slow down enough before reaching the end, but the train wouldn't have come off the tracks the way it did it would have gone into a massive barrel roll and killed them easily. That being said also all trains have brakes that can be used manually in case of a instrument panel fault. I will maybe add to this when i remember some of the other questions you asked.
