It was removed from the show because "taking drugs to get powers" isn't a great message. In comics, Beth Chapel was a student of Dr McNider and later succeeded him as Doc Midnite. I believe she was blind as well. She died in the 80s or 90s. She, Yolanda, and Rick were part of the same generation of JSA legacies. Courtney is from the 00s batch with Yolanda and Beth being dead by the time Courtney came onto the scene. Rick is much more happy in the comics and dated Beth before she died. He ended up marrying fellow JSA legacy, Jesse Quick, daughter of Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle. They had a son, Johnny Tyler. This show is pulling from all versions of the JSA. Infinity Inc which Yolanda was part of also included Sylvester Pemberton/Skyman, Jenny-Lynn Haden aka Jade and her twin brother Todd Rice/Obsidian (who was in Legends as a JSA member) (their parents were Alan Scott/Green Lantern and supervillain, Rose Canton/The Thorn), Helena Wayne/The Huntress (daughter of Batman & Catwoman and inspired the character of Helena Bertinelli, the second Huntress) as well as a few others. Artemis Crock is mentioned in this episode, her parents are Sportsmaster & Tigress. She was a major character in the show Young Justice where she's heroic unlike the comics where she's a ruthless villain and married to Cameron Mahkent/Icicle Jr (and they have a baby named Rose). sorry for the comic infodump. Cindy's attitude is straight from the comics and her look is identitcal down to the white streak.

Courtney seems cool, too. Just make sure she's healthy, doesn't want your blood, and doesn't try to murder your girlfriend in a flying elf suit.

But if the JSA has been dead for years, how has that database been kept updated to the point that it knows all about Courtney, everything she's been up to and her schoolmates, just to name a few things? Has Pat somehow been making regular updates to that database?

Her power was controlling soundwaves and she also used a violin. The original comic book Fiddler is a man named Isaac Bowin and this show's is Anaya Bowin (and I think she named her son Isaac, perhaps after the father?)
