Man I forgot how much this episode ws dripping with an uneasy atmosphere. The dutch angles, the lighting, it's really well done and kinda stood out on this rewatch. Also seeing Wally again was great, and he definitly had one of the best character arcs with only very limited screen time. And this plot surrounding the death of the Speedforce also leads into some of my favorite episodes next season.

2022-01-24 17:18:02 +0000 UTCEvery scene I see Caitlin in I can't help but notice how they only show the top 1/3rd of her body. I don't want to notice it, but once I found out she was pregnant I couldn't stop noticing it. I had this same issue when these were airing live.

2022-01-23 07:48:22 +0000 UTCAfter this episodes, I kinda want a Wally show now)) The fandom called the other Iris - Siri, 'cause it's Iris spelled backwards, like it a mirror...... Regarding Thawne. He used the future technology to not just made himself look like Wells, but to change his dna to become Wells. So for all intents and purposes, he was Wells, his body became a body of Wells, his cells became cells of Harrison Wells from Earth-1. So it makes sense. And it's not a stretch, and you don't have to overthink it, or bend over backwards to make it make sense, it just does. Of all the criticisms you can have over this show, I don't think this one is valid. He definately should've had Matt Letscher's face in Crisis on Earth-X, but I guess it didn't work out, maybe Matt was busy, maybe it was just easier to do Tom, 'cause he's already a regular on the show. And they justified it by giving him a line about wearing that face to turture Barry. And season 5 Thawne is that Thawne from Crisis on Earth-X, so it made sense that he's still wearing that face, if he was wearing it, when he was captured and put in prison. So after season 5, Barry let him go, he was free, it Wells'es body, with Wells'es dna, and then Crisis on Infinite Earths happened, and all the Earths and their population were destroyed. And now he, like every other Wells, is haunting Nash Wells, the only remaining Wells. It makes sense to me, dammit!!!

2022-01-22 13:23:18 +0000 UTCThis is really disconcerting. Nash has been seeing the ghosts of his multiverse doppelgangers, like Sherloque. But Thawne shouldn't be one of them. He just borrowed Wells' face. And yet, because we came to know Thawne while he was masquerading as Wells, the show keeps coming up with excuses as to why Thawne still looks like him instead of himself. Or, in the case of Season 5, not even try to explain it at all. I mean, I suppose I kinda understand, from a meta perspective, but it really is playing fast and loose with the logic and reasoning of things in-universe (though it's not like they haven't done that about 5 billion times before).

I would prefer that they had the speed force keep switching between people or just not looking like anyone. I imagine they like doing this because it's a reason to keep bringing back the actress. Just like with the speed force, I don't like them having Eobard Thawne always appearing as Harrison Wells. It sometimes makes sense, like in this situation where he is in Nash's body, but it doesn't always. I know people like Tom Cavanagh's portrayal of Thawne, but that doesn't mean it makes sense. Regardless of which actor plays Thawne better, I think Matt Letscher should have been playing Thawne in season 5 and during the Earth-X crossover just because it doesn't make sense for him to look like Wells.

Also funny that in 1 episode he can tell something is up with Iris. At this point when the actress that plays Barry's mum gets the call from the writers about coming back do you think she just thinks to herself; "How are they going to kill me this time?"
