Stargirl S01E08 - Shiv: Part 2 FULL REACTION

Comments

cindy's dad is dragon king. cindy in comics is basically courtney's archenemy or at least she tries to be Pat's jokes about Beth's poor eyesight are nods to Beth's comic book counterpart, who was blinded in a chemical explosion at a hospital. Ed Reilly is mentioned to be working for Firebrand chemicals. Firebrand is a superhero that dates back to 1941, and a member of the All-Star Squadron and the Freedom Fighters. Firebrand's real name was Rod Reilly, with his father's name being Ed Reilly. When Rod died, his sister Danette became the new Firebrand. He also works for Bannerman chemicals, which is the company that Rex Tyler worked for in the comics when he invents the Miraclo drug that gives him powers. The keypad code that Beth uses to access the tunnels is 1999. This is the year that the Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. comics were first published and Courtney Whitmore debuted in the comics as the second Star-Spangled Kid. According to the show's script supervisor, Cameron had a scene with Courtney when he visits her house to give her a corsage. The moment had to be cut as it didn't fit well with the established tension between Cindy and Courtney.

I'm just responding to Shan's complaints because she kept pointing out that she should've heard Pat and therefore figured out that Courtney was Stargirl. At that point, we didn't know that Cindy recognised Courtney with the mask on, but Shan, understandably, believed that she should've known anyway because of Pat.

What about it needed to be addressed? If Cindy recognized her face then that would have happened before Pat started yelling out her name.

Zach Hershman

As much we would all like to believe it as much as you, Shan, I really do think Cindy just found out about Courtney's secret how she said. And Pat calling her name in the last episode and it not being addressed was just another oversight on the part of the people behind the show. Because there have been other inconsistencies, too.

I can sympathise with Icicle as a family man, but as a villain, it's hard to get behind him when you remember that he killed a kid for essentially no reason. I mean, don't get me wrong, I appreciate the complexity. But even killing that corporate guy, he was hiding his pursuit of vengeance for his wife behind some "justice for the people" motive. I doubt he would've cared enough otherwise.

I think the ship name is StarShiv. I kinda like it. After this two-parter I was kinda shipping Courtney and Cindy too. You know, Enemies-to-Lovers trope(or Enemies-to-Friends-to-Lovers). I definitely see more potential there than I ever saw in the SuperCorp (yeah, send the SuperCorp shippers after me, I'm not afraid) P.S. Icicle is so cool in this show. Love his motivation and character. Love the special effects on him. I always though he was such a dork, but this show made him cool.

Corporations are the real supervillains. There's no joke there.
