joey zarick was doomed due to not being an existing comic character

I remember people talking throughout the season what side they thought each of the children of the ISA members would end up on. I thought that Henry might have considered his father's side, but ultimately ending up choosing good. I wasn't expecting him to die so soon.

#JusticeforHenry. And, you know, Joey Zarick, too. *Holding my candle up in solemn tribute to Brainwave Jr.*

Excellent redemption story told in such a short period of time. It takes some good writers to pull that off while making the audience feel that emotion.

Cameron Gellman (Hourman) had to pull apart metal bars during a scene with the JSA. He kept struggling with it and couldn't pull the bars apart despite having trained for it. The crew told him to "put his back into it" but he still wasn't able to bend them. The crew decided to try and when they failed, they realized they forgot to put the hydraulics at the top of the bars, so Cameron was trying to bend real metal poles. Barbara's inbox also contains an email from Maggie Kramer, a character who previously appeared in the pilot. Maggie was Barbara's friend from Valley Village. Neil Hopkins (Larry Crock) revealed that Larry Crock had a scene in "Brainwave Jr." that was cut for both time and it took away from the suspense of the episode. In the scene, Larry invites Pat to stay at the Crock household since Pat is sleeping at The Pit Stop. The theater in the opening Establishing Shot has posters for movies based on Prez Rickard, The Unknown Soldier, and G.I. Robot, all characters who have appeared in DC comics, while the marquee is advertising the film Strange Adventures, named after the long time DC comic title. Courtney mistakenly calls Dragon King "Snapdragon"; the comic counterpart to Project New America was called Project Snapdragon. Meredith "Merry" Creamer/Merry Pemberton (aka Merry, the Girl of 1000 Gimmicks or Gimmick Girl) is an obscure DC superhero. She was Sylvester Pemberton's adopted sister. She did marry Henry King Sr (Brainwave) but she was unaware of his villainy. They had a son, Henry Jr, who joined Infinity Inc (founded by his uncle Sylvester) alongside Helena Wayne, Jade, Obsidian and others as Brainwave Jr. He'd later fall into villainy because of mental illness. It's probably why they killed him here to avoid that plotline. Merry did have another child, Jacqueline Pemberton (Gimmix) who would join a version of the Seven Soldiers of Victory and soon after die fighting the Sheeda (evil fairy creatures). Merry also formed the group Old Justice who resented current teen heroes like Stargirl and Tim Drake's Young Justice. She'd later make her peace with Stargirl. Merry's pretty interesting and an underutilized golden age hero, I'd like to see her and Jacqueline's relationship explored.

I'm glad that finally, Courtney's mom knows and I'm also glad she ended up getting onboard with everything. Henry's death was very sad but it was a very good redemption arc.

In the comics, Brainwave Jr. was a superhero who rejected the villainy of his father. Sadly, he'll never get the chance here. As you said, it was a fantastically done scene. The acting, the music, the way the whole thing was put together. One of the best, and saddest moments of the show. And to think we were hating the character just a couple of episodes ago!

This show made me shed a few tears over a character that was introduced by saying "smells like slut" to someone. Talk about character development

Sad Cat

Henry’s death was my favorite moment from this season. His last words being him apologizing to Yolanda and reassuring Courtney about the good in people made me tear up. Everything in that scene made the moment feel so heavy.
