I think this episode was telling us that his drinking problems are what is causing their family problems. Or at least is a big contributing factor. Sarah was essentially yelling at her dad. Not at Jonathan.

Previously in the Arrowverse, she directed an s1 episode of Legends (the one with the Pilgrim and Rip's mom) and an episode of 6 which you obviously haven't seen yet. She's directed like 5 Flash episodes as well. She's done a lot of work you've seen on shows like Supernatural, Ally McBeal, and Doom Patrol. She's one of my favorite directors.

2022-05-15 03:16:32 +0000 UTCReplacing everything one of his experiments destroyed for charity is literally the least a billionaire could do but it sucks that it makes him look even better to the people of smallville because they don't know its his fault. Jordan's anxiety issues are implied to have diminished with the onset of his powers. He doesn't so much feel different as he knows he's different and he knows how and why he is different and it gives him a sense of control.

If her father has a drinking problem or him drinking is a part of the problem between Kyle and Lana, Sarah might have some negative experience with people drinking. Also, the drinking age in the US is 21 and they are clearly not 21 since they're still in high school.
