In a later episode in season one, Sophie's mom showed up and asked about their separation. Sophie told her about her sexuality and that's the last we have heard of him. He was just a plot point so the show could tell Sophie's coming out story. His plot, and the other poorly written social commentary stories in season one, is a major reason this show was cancelled. Too many people weren't willing to give the show a chance after how the show started. I wish that wasn't true because I had really grown to like where this show went with Ryan.
