Sad to see that DeVoe's obsession with The Enlightenment ruined their relationship. The Thinking Cap gave DeVoe endless amounts of knowlegde, but in the process he paid the price with the partial loss of his emotions and soul. Because of that, Marlize was in someways nothing more then a tool to DeVoe.
