Obviously I missed that too. :) I think the problem and confusion with those dates though is when you watch the show a couple of years later. I mean season 2 aired in 2012/13, but I‘m not quite sure these exact years are ever mentioned in the series of course since it wouldn’t really have mattered originally. You just assume it is the present year naturally. So it would have been 4-5 years prior then.

It is clearly written at the beginning of the first flashback at the bottom of the screen, including the location. I guess you were probably just distracted or looking away at the beginning of that scene

2021-03-17 14:46:37 +0000 UTCThe flashbacks are from a couple of years ago presumably, when she was training for her revenge in Japan with Takeda. It was probably a while after the Grayson‘s New Years dinner that she attended as a waitress. She called Takeda‘s number at the end of this episode, after getting her double infinity tattoo, presumably to begin her training. And Aiden obviously is another trainee of Takeda, but for another reason that has something to do with his sister. So that’s how they know each other.
