The Flash (1990) is an good example of an episodic TV Show. Every episode has a different plot / story and has to be finished at the end. And I guess for this episode they had (a lot) more material than that there was room to use it. Because it seems that the way it was cut that the prison scene was longer. But the episode had to be concluded / ended and therefore probably the weird cut from the prison to the club. Which does indeed give a strange and unpleasant feeling. But still it's an great episode.
