The Crows (Kaz, Inej, and Jesper) side of the story is still being fleshed out. We'll learn more about them in the next few episodes. All we know about them is they are trying to get through the Fold for a job that pays a lot of money. That job is to capture Alina for someone on their side of the Fold. Both sides are at war with each other. They aren't just supporting characters though. The 3 (so far) of them are just as important to the overall story the show is telling. A little backstory on them from the novels. They are mainly from the Six of Crows novel. Their story in the novels is different from the book since they don't actually appear in the Shadow and Bone book. Both books are part of the same universe and the Crows are widely loved by fans, so the show runner wanted to add them to the story.
