Ughhhh I have a love/hate relationship with this episode. I dread this one every time I rewatch the series despite how much I love the background stories. I love Lexa 🥺

Morgan

My favorite character has been introduced but I can't say why they are my favorite.

I wouldnt say the show never managed to recover. I cant say anything else without spoilers but i dont think it ruined the show.

Tommy

My favorite characters are Lexa, Clarke, Raven, Octavia and Allie/Becca.

Regarding Lexa seeming different to season 2, it’s because we’re seeing more of Lexa as an actual person as opposed to Heda Lexa. She’s at home, at ease and trusting enough of Clarke to be vulnerable in front of her now. Lexa has always been a visionary leader who has strived for peace above all else - forming the coalition and ending decades of endless wars between clans, letting Azgeda into her alliance instead of retaliating for Costia’s death, allying with Skycrew and compromising to only take Finn’s life as punishment for the massacre instead of wiping them out and making the deal at Mount Weather in exchange for her peoples safe return. She will always choose the path that will avoid further bloodshed if she can. So when Clarke offers her alternatives to war, she will listen to her advice because it aligns with her ultimate goal. She has been slowly guiding her people towards becoming a more progressive, peaceful civilization for her entire reign, it’s unfortunate that Skycrew’s bloodthirsty ways force her hand into making it happen way too fast. Her death is a direct result of Pike and Bellamy’s actions. And yeah, Lexa’s death via stray bullet is lame as hell especially when we have seen and will continue to see other characters survive much worse injuries. Also...lesbian taken out by stray bullet just after after sex with the love of her life *sigh* how original. Fun fact, the writer of this episode is actually good friends with Amber Benson. It’s a shame because in isolation from all the controversy, Lexa’s death is a beautiful tragic scene that I’ve come to appreciate over the years. Eliza and Alycia acted their asses off and the score is just *chef’s kiss* but I still wish that it never happened and the show never really managed to recover.

Yeah, I really hate how Lexa died, I get that they had to write her off, but they could have done it in a way that wouldn't give me some serious "Seeing Red" flashbacks... The thing with the AI in Lexas neck was what Becca talked about in the flashback with how ALIE 2.0 would be better, because she would understand the human experience - It's actually a concept that is being discussed in AI research IRL, basically the idea being that the safest way to use the potential power of an AI would be to only connect it to the brain of a human, so that the human is in control, but with the full cognitive power of an AI at their disposal while the AI is incapable of doing stuff like hacking nukes and ending the world...

BeckettBaladas

Lexa let her defenses down bc she was with clarke so she just walked in. Even the strongest of people lte their guard down sometimes and even then a bullet is very deadly to anyone.

Tommy

You did say you wanted more shocking deaths that didnt make it feel like like they were gonna die.

Tommy

After Ally destroyed Earth due to not having empathy for humankind, Becca redesigned her AI so that it was solely contained within the chip. The chip would be inserted into a human, giving the human the knowledge within the chip but keeping the human experience. An unintended consequence of this is the reincarnation Lexa talked about so many times before. I think she mentioned this before? But when she was meditating, she was communing with her past lives. Assuming she wasn’t just crazy, now she will become one of many voices inside the next commander’s head. I’m still torn on whether this is real reincarnation or if it’s just a transference of knowledge.

AshLand Writer

This was definitely an accident on their part, the actress wanted to leave bc she was on another show but they wanted to give clarke and lexa one more nice time before she died but they didnt realize what they did.
