Black Lightning S04E13 - The Book Of Resurrection: Chapter Two: Closure FULL REACTION (SERIES FINALE)

Comments

I find it very funny to be so many negative comments about a show that people don't like yet continue to watch... I admit I am very late to your arrowverse reactions. I've seen just about every show they've made, and I do have my least favorite shows to pick from. This show to me is one of the best. This comment is years later from your reactions to the whole Black Lightening series, and you've been asking people "Why do you like this show? I don't understand". I have been checking comments for someone to finally defend it, but all I see is people saying the same things you've said about it, like they are trying to suck up to you or something, or they will say what character they liked best for that moment, but think overall the show is bad, because they couldn't comprehend the plot, and only focus on how bad they feel the music is instead of the story, and wonder why it doesn't make sense to them, and just come to their own conclusions that it's bad... Like I said, I've seen just about every arrowverse show, and every show has a theme to them... Arrow's theme is Redemption... The Flash theme is Love... Supergirl's theme is Hope... The Legend's theme was Destiny Batwoman's theme was proving herself... Black Lightening's theme for his show was Oppression... The show unlike the rest of the Arrowverse was meant to show how black people live in America, and the struggles we have to overcome. The rest of the Super heroes in the other shows only dealt with making a mistake in the field or relationship problems. Sure there was talk about gun violence which is good, but Black Lightening's show spoke, and showed more when it came to the people's problems, and not just their own like other shows that came before it to just save their city, and then to act like it's ok again... Lala had his problems for sure, and when you seen him on screen you was always wondering "what's the point of him" The point of his character was redemption, and overcoming his situations by making the best of what he have around him. Anybody looked at him wrong he would just kill them off. Is that good? No... Since season 1 though he always tried to have little kids be better than him by staying in school, studying, and make sure they have proper manners. That is something Jefferson tried giving him when Lala was his student. The 100 didn't want that though, so he took another path, but still tried helping the streets his own way, but first he had to build up his respect. Sadly that meant killing. Over time as the seasons went on the killing slowed down, and he was actually happy to have black Lightening around even though they have a different code they still care about Freeland, and the people. About Tobias... You feel that he was the villain in all the seasons, but he wasn't. He was in every season, but not the main villain... Season two he was captured. He was taken to the same place Jefferson, and Lynn was taken to for experiments. He is the only villain who has been in every season... My point is the ASA has been a big problem since season 1, and they finally took care of that in season 3 while Tobias has been biting his time. Of course he's had major roles between then like the things he did with Khalil, turning him into Painkiller, and trying to kill Lady Eve. Then you have the cansol. This group was mentioned in season 1 that Tobias has been trying to be apart of, but they didn't finally show them til season 4. It seems every show has a club only the meanest of the mean can join... So I'm not going to talk about that. I only bring it up, because you didn't remember the mention of them, and thought it was random. Listen I get it... The editing feels off to you, and just about every story goes over your head, and the music that's picked for this show makes it hard for you to feel anything for the scene in the moment or to take it seriously... That is perfectly fine. These are the situations that's dealt with in a specific country, and a specific race... Even though the show is comic book; it's also real. It's not as bad as it once was for black people obviously, but it could still be better. So that was the theme of this whole series. Oppression. It's something that you will never get, and that's why just about every plot to a episode went over your head. This is the only show that focuses on family, and drama compared to the hero shows that came before it, and after it in the Arrowverse. In just about every episode of The Flash Barry was suited up, same for Supergirl, and Batwoman. In Black lightning though he spent some episodes out the suit to actually focus on him, and the people as plane Jefferson, because unlike the other heroes counter parts he actually made himself important to the city, and almost on the same level as black lightning Anyways that's why I love the show... The characters I hate most in it though is Lynn, and Anissa lol. I can't stand Lynn because Jefferson stopped being BL for 10 years for Lynn, but they never got remarried, and his daughters have been living with him the whole time... Then he decides to be BL to help the city again, and then Lynn finally comes back to stay with him only to be there for the girls since he's suiting up again? The man stopped being a hero, because SHE asked him to, and has been WAITING for her to come back home to him for TEN YEARS as not being black lightning... Then she finally comes back but not to be with him, but to be there for the girls, because he's BL again... WTF!? Then Anissa no matter what ignores everything her father tries teaching her about being a hero, not killing, not doing it for fame, and money... What does she do? She goes out as blackbird, she kills, she takes blood money to buy herself a big place that's tecked out, and start posing for the camera... Jennifer may not have been perfect, but she was only 16. I can see why she is reckless when it comes to love, smoking, and her choices. She mostly learned from those though. Anyways that's my take on Black Lightning. It's one of my favorite shows from the Arrowverse. Here's my list... 1. Arrow 2. Black Lightning 3. The Flash 4. Legends of tomorrow My least favorite show is Supergirl... The show is mostly focused on "Girl Power" and I understand to a certain extent... It is her show, but in EVERY scene they try to disrespect, and discredit Superman every chance they get, and they even have his character join in on it at times... "Kara you so stronger than me" "I could never do what you do" "Your hope is what gives me hope" "Supergirl beat me, so she rightfully is the Earth's champion". There is so much more this show do to disrespect men period to try and have the female gender be so much better... What kept me locked in when the show was on regularly was James, Kat, Wynn, Max, and Lena.... As soon as James left I seen no point in watching anymore, but I did anyway hoping there would be new crossovers, but nope... You probably won't even see this 😅 but I had to come, and defend one of my favorite Arrowverse shows. Unlike the shows that came before it; it still also kept it's grit while the flash, Supergirl and legends of tomorrow turn comedic... What I will say about your reactions to the show though.... Even though you couldn't understand most of what was going on; if someone was yelling, or blaming something on one of the main characters in a scene, you still understood that it wasn't the fault of the person being blamed, and stuck up for them in your own way. Don't matter if you didn't understand the struggle overall, but you still seen that right is right, and wrong is wrong. Thank you for the reaction, and I'm sorry this was so tough for you to get through 🙂✌🏾

Kevin Bernard

I feel kind of bad, I'm watching this for the first time and all I can think is.. I don't give a shit.

Jake Hodgson

I wonder if they had plans to bring Lala back in the Painkiller spinoff. Because apparently the writers think we need more Lala in our lives.

Luis Garcia

Well it's over. Thank goodness. I guess I shouldn't have expected much from the finale when the show was never that good to begin with. One thing that I think the show really suffered from is not knowing how to fit music into a scene. Like in this episode, they were breaking into a compound and the soundtrack was some lounge music. Then when Jen was fighting JJ, there was a ballad playing? And Jefferson vs. Tobias, probably the biggest action scene of the series, was set to some R&B tune. They really need a lesson in how music makes a scene work, because most of the time, their song choices were distracting.

Brandon Wiesner

I agree with you.

Zach Hershman

I know, but I still don't think it was enough.

I said this in the 4x9 comments: "Something is definitely up with Jennifer. Is she trapped in her own mind like Khalil was? She had a headache and you could hear her talking." I'm guessing this is what they were hinting at in that episode. I believe the voice that could be heard was the original actresses. I wonder if that was something they added into 4x9 when they found out they could get the original actress back.
