The line in season 2 didn't confirm anything. Just because a random orderly says that he can take her to Brenner, doesn't mean that he isn't lying, or trying to manipulate her into a trap. Plus we see him get attacked by the demogorgon, which you don't really survive. It would have been reasonable to assume that he was dead and for them to never revisit the character. With Hopper, the stinger also didn't confirm if that was him in the prison. It could have been anybody. But even without that scene, he is a main, core character. It was unlikely that would have actually been the end of him. I knew already that he had to be coming back somehow. Like you said, it's Stranger Things and they aren't likely to kill off major characters like that. Unless it's the end. But with Brenner, it would have been nice to at least get an explanation of how he survived the demogorgon, like we got with Hopper.

With hopper the end credits scene was meant to tell you that hopper was alive without spelling it out for you. It was planned the entire time. This show doesn’t need to kill off people like that. It’s not game of thrones, it’s stranger things. Plus I think Brennan is alive bc I think he has powers we don’t know about. He is the one that created everyone after number 1, what makes you think he didn’t experiment on himself and gave him powers? That could explain how he survived season 1. They have a reason for the stuff that they do. Plus people bot dying or coming back doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t undo what happened before. That weight was still there in that moment and that’s how it’s supposed to be. Doesn’t change the fact that it happened.

I guess she didn't think Hopper was alive from that and she isn't one to read up on news about shows because she doesn't want spoilers. But I think she is just generally annoyed that deaths seem to get glossed over. Like Brenner definitely seemed like he was dead in the first season. Hopefully he actually is this time and he doesn't show up again in S5 because that would really be annoying.
