What's crazy about this episode, and the whole concept of the show, is that it came out over a year before the famous 2013 revelations by Edward Snowden about the illegal digital spying and surveillance carried out by US secret service agencies (and elsewhere in the world). It's rare that a sci-fi show hits the nail on the head so well that some of its "predictions" (or rather "what ifs") come true as it's still on the air. There are many other good things about this episode. Rewatching, I liked in particular the scene where Peck is talking to Fusco and we see him realizing in real-time about the existence of The Machine. Great writing!

2023-02-01 15:00:13 +0000 UTCThe song "I'm afraid of Americans" was by the legend David Bowie, lyrically it worked with the sequence but the meaning doesn't. Basically it's about the Americanization of other cultures and countries.
