Stargate SG-1 S07E06 - Lifeboat FULL REACTION

If they where picked by random chance in the lottery, then you don't need to account for sex since, assuming each sex was 50% of the population, the lottery would trend towards picking 50% of each anyway. Its the same principle if you flip a coin over and over again, it will average out to 50% heads and 50% tails.

1. You: "I only check my phone during the credits" ...Wait... Hold up Froots..... Did you hear that? Half your subscribers just spit out their cereal while laughing 😅 2. Did I ever watch the movie "Signs"? ......Naaaah... I'm just randomly pointing out obscure movie trivia /sarcasm 3. And just an FYI... Peter Deluise made another appearance in this episode (7x05) ...He's the soldier standing next to Daniel and Carter when they're using the M.A.L.P. to look at the planet they're about to go to at the beginning of the episode ....He's also accompanied by Martin Wood.. One of the other directors who makes frequent sneaky cameos 4. The shield protecting this place just interfered with the radio signal on the M.A.L.P. hence why they couldn't receive any more signal from it ...And SG-1 is essentially also an exploration team... They deal with weird shit all the time... Stepping through the shield is just another day on the job for them ....Besides IF it were dangerous.. Carter would've prooooobably advised against it ...But then this episode wouldn't have happened 5. Can I sign up to get one of these Link devices?? (minus the side-effects) Being able to access whatever information I need at the power of thought would be cool ...No need to type anything on my phone or use a PC ...Or walk around talking to my watch like some kinda weirdo 6. Yeeeeeaaah Froots.. You definitely are the kinda person that would need signs to tell you NOT. to walk down that alley cause the shield ends there 7. Not sure why those documents stating there were a fuckton of people in this town weren't destroyed a long time ago ...There was a person working at the town archives... She could've accidentally stumbled on those papers and figured out the truth herself without the help of SG-1 ...The computer in charge of this "culling" should've done a better job at covering it's tracks 8. Imagine though ....Carter kept saying that taking off the link device was harmless.... The dude was saying it was suicide.. He assumed he was taught this since he was a child ....Imagine taking the device off his head ....He'd stress the fuck out and potentially die of a heart attack ....Carter was being a bit care-free here 9. Smudge wants attention... Well... Big sad for Smudge... I'mma keep her out of the edit.. It'll be like you didn't even pause ...That'll teach her not to be an attention whore 10. Yeah our internet is basically the same only brainwashing to a lesser extent I suppose ...It's not like people instantly have their minds changed but some people who are easily influenced can read a comment and immediately believe that shit to be true ...The internet is a dangerous place for gullible idiots 11. Ok so Wiki messed up on this one... I told you I read that when Teal'c is seen running past one of the people in cryo on the Stromos.. It's Peter Deluise making another appearance ....Yeah I'm editing this shit right now and that is NOT. him... But... Froots... Regardless... I think if you'd figure out what some of the directors look like.. It'd be fun to see if you could spot them ...In my opinion their cameos don't distract from the episode ....Or perhaps if you don't want to then maybe IF you'll ever do a re-watch you'll pay more attention to things like this 12. Hammond: "Teal'c maybe you should head to the infirmary yourself?" Teal'c: "I intend to remain here..." In my mind I see a flashback of Teal'c sitting in the infirmary in "Window Of Opportunity" getting a thermometer shoved in his mouth every time him and O'neill looped ...THIS is why Teal'c chose not to go to the infirmary ...Not cause he's a good friend and wanted to be there for Daniel.... Nah.. Dude has PTSD ...Post Thermometer Stress Disorder 13. If I COULD be bothered... Every time Daniel introduced himself as a different alien entity in THIS episode (7x06) ...I'd have him ACTUALLY introduce himself as Daniel Jackson ....Just to balance the scale a bit (spoiler alert: I didn't.. I forgot I had this idea) 14. As we've learned in the past ...There's SG teams that have specific functions... Fairly certain Daniel was once at a dig site with SG-3 which was mainly an archaeological team ...In this case it's just the writer of the episode being like "12 seems good" unless you count wiki as a valid source of information 15. Riiiiiight... They had a lottery to see who would go on the Stromos and the sovereigns were "chosen" ...Suuuuuree... Classic 1 Percenters being "lucky" enough to get "chosen" to survive while people who actually serve a purpose get screwed over 16. I mean... Dude is a "Sovereign" ....Of course he'd put his own life above everyone else ..That's what entitled people do ....Luckily O'neill wasn't having any of his bullshit and threatened to "cut him out" of Daniel if he had to ...That's how you deal with entitled people Froots ...You don't cave and give them what they want just to "keep the peace" ...You do what is necessary whatever the cost ....In this case it also comes at the cost of a kid ...Buuuuuuttt... Kids ..shrugs.. ...added later... Oh ok it doesn't? The kid survives? ...Odd... But good for the little kid I guess 17. Ok the whole explanation of Daniel's consciousness protecting himself and this is how the others could be taken out of his head ....Sounds like a quick way to end the episode... It was a person inside Daniel who earlier claimed that this wasn't possible... That after adding someone elses mind into a person it would be impossible to get them out again ....I mean sure maybe the guy was wrong... But this kinda came out of nowhere... "Daniel's mind protected himself" ....I mean... C'mon son!

Alright, time for a fun lesson on practical probability. There's actually no need to separate between male and female. If you take a random sample of a larger group, as long as the sample is large enough, which given the size of those ships it is, you will end up with about the same proportions of people as the larger amount. So a lottery would randomly pull the same proportions of men and women as exist in the generally populace. This is actually how polls and TV ratings work. You take a random sampling of people and since that is going to represent the large whole fairly accurately, you can use that to get the numbers for the population as a whole. It's only about 2% off if done properly. There's a bit more that sometimes goes into it, some corrections that have to be made if the selection itself has some biases, but all things that can be corrected for and not likely to be an issue in a lottery that everyone wants to be in.

They don't really go over it, but certain SG teams do seem to have specialties. SG-3, for example, is made up of Marines rather than Air Force and is combat focused, which you hear brought up several times when they are brought in to backup SG-1. According to the wiki, there are ones that specialize in science, archaeology, diplomacy, security, and other focuses. According to that wiki SG-12 is a combat/medic unit, which fits them being brought in to clear a spaceship in which people are being attacked and injured. SG-1, in case you are wondering, is consider a general exploration unit.

I agree. Child Daniel was adorable. I wish we got to see more of him. They could have had him be a bigger part of the episode where the audience grew more attached only to have him tragically die in the end in order to save his people. It would have been a really sad ending especially considering his mother pretty much sacrificed herself to save him. I don't know why shows shy away from these types of sad stories. Not everyone gets a happy ending.

Daniel

This episode was filmed around the time of when RDA's father passed away. When I watched the episode again after learning that, I could see the sadness around him in his scenes. One of my favorite Janet episodes. I like the Daniel Jackson character, but for some reason I just don't like him in this episode.

Jennifer Hickman

Michael Shanks won the Leo Award for Best Lead Performance By A Male in a Dramatic Series in 2004 for this episode.

Patrick - Excelsior

Sounds like SlayerFest o'clock!

Sir Jimmothy

Oh, I thought I recognised that guy. He played Tector Gorch.
