Stargate SG-1 S07E18 - Heroes: Part 2 FULL REACTION

Comments

1. Yeah on the subject of Pete... They brought in this character much too fast after the episode Grace (7x13) where Carter hallucinated Jacob and O'neill basically telling her to find someone ...There's no way she'd have already been dating Pete for months 2 episodes later ...Keep in mind that 7x14 dealt with Carter being off-world helping Jonas save Langara so she wouldn't have time to be dating ...7x15 (realistically) just made it look like Carter rushed into a relationship... There should have been a bunch of episodes where they just dropped a hint of her dating .....But I share the sentiment ...I don't like Pete either 2. If you're in a relationship... A SERIOUS. one ....You share EVERY. secret you have ...If you can't share yourself COMPLETELY. then in my opinion you're not relationship material .....That said however... And the next part is VERY important ...Carter sharing the secret about the Stargate program falls OUTSIDE. that belief ...That NOT. really HER. secret to tell and most decidedly NOT. to someone she's been dating for a few weeks at most just to make her love life easier ...That's like... "General... I just got a match on Tinder.. Can I tell him about the Stargate?" ...I'd be like bish is you stupid!???!. NO! 3. What are you doing wrong with keeping roses alive you ask?? Easy Froots... You should buy plastic roses or plastic plants.. Why?? ....Cause they NEVER. die!!! ...I know! ...Mind blown right!?! ....Beeteedubs that still doesn't convince me to put plants in the house 4. What is the Tok'ra's plan?? I dunno Froots... Probably hide in a cave like the cowards they are... And the Free Jaffa? ....I mean I think they'll still be open to communications but you're right... WE. have all the technology ...What do they have?? Staff weapons and glistening torsos??? ....Like... GHWAT!? 5. HA! True... Part of the reason we decided to make our own ships was probably due to the fact that the Tok'ra always came up with excuses ..Cough.. or scanned the wrong planets ..Cough.. Unreliable snakes 6. You keep asking why Artie is here... I'm not sure.. But I'm ASSUMING he works for the same TV network that covered the Prometheus last season and I'm fairly certain they struck a deal for having the exclusive if or when the Stargate Program would become public knowledge 7. You start loudly singing along to the theme song: "Ok I'm done" .....Ok but can you be louder next time... My headphones were only at 125% volume ...BE LOUDER!!!!!!! (I mean it) 8. Kinda funny to see how Carter... Who deals with high stakes situations on a daily basis is totally uncomfortable when in front of a camera getting interviewed 9. "I just wanted to see if you'd chase me" Daniel's humour is just about as great as O'neill's sometimes 10. This was Casey 3 years before Chuck... In fact this episode came out 2 months before he showed up at a law firm in L.A 11. No Froots... This was not the 750th episode as you assumed ....In fact... The entire Gateverse (SG-1, Atlantis and Universe) consists of a total of 354 episodes.... Sooooo... Uhm... Yeeeeaaahh ....Part 2 was the 150th episode though 12. SNORT. Old Man Kinsey prepared a speech that put even Artie to sleep ...Look at that old geezer trynna sound supportive of the Stargate program... Little Weasel 13. Yup you're not mistaken Froots... It WAS Kinsey who said the stargate offended him ...We still don't know what the stargate said to him though ...And Kinsey is a politician so he's known to lie ....Besides.... I'm fairly certain the stargate doesn't speak ...Maybe the old geezer is just going senile 14. I looked up a transcript of 7x17 and while it's not entirely written down since it probably didn't even say what he said in the script itself ....This is what O'neill sort of said to Kinsey when the alarm went off: "You smarmy self-righteous, opportunistic, ass—." .... "…you are not going to….son of a bitch." 15. I suppose you're right... Either this episode should have come out BEFORE the Pete episode... OR.. Carter should have at least said she was dating someone when asked about her relationship in regards to O'neill 16. Yeeeeaaahhh... Walter a.k.a. Chevron Guy is probably THE person at the SGC who is the MOST proud of his position ....All he has to do is dial the gate and open/close the iris... But he's damn good at it! He owns that shit! 17. Yup that's Siler in the background... Apparently that Staff Weapon blast proof armor tech that Bill put in the vest earlier in the episode still needs some work ....Either that or Siler was out doing something else stupid and that's how he ended up in sick bay ....Which.. I mean... It's plausible.. Siler do be Silering 18. When O'neill got shot... Added with the scene where we see Carter walk by crying in the hallway... The Smallville Sheriff saying O'neill wasn't moving AND the knowledge that RDA wanted more time with his daughter ....I personally thought at the time that O'neill didn't make it ....Ofcourse by the end of the episode we found out the real truth but still ...I don't think I'm the only one who got fooled 19. Random side note... This Woolsey guy ...Another guest star role by a famous Star Trek actor ...In this case it's Robert Picardo who was The Doctor (yes that's his name.. he was an emergency medical hologram ...it's complicated) on Star Trek Voyager 20. Well this'll be a first... Given the severity of the situation I think it would be in poor taste if I made the joke this time... So consider 7x18 the first time in the edits that Daniel Jackson actually introduces himself AS Daniel Jackson in the last scene with Frasier 21. Hammond ordered Artie off the base on his own judgement... Artie however stormed out of Hammonds office and made a phone call off-screen with the president... That's how in the next scene Hammond tells Daniel he was ordered to hand over the tape ....The scenes follow eachother up a bit quick I suppose and you really gotta pay attention to the dialogue to understand so it's no wonder you got confused about what was going on 22. Yeah as for the random soldier who was gonna be a dad supposedly dying... I wasn't thinking that at all nor would I have cared.... Why would they create all this drama for some random dude ....I mean... Hammond ever referenced earlier in the episode that it was someone who worked closely with Carter ....Why would you think it was this random guy we never saw before when there's the mention of O'neill not moving and the scene of him laying motionless on the ground? And given previous knowledge about RDA wanting less shooting time... It COULD have been a realistic outcome ...Ofcourse it didn't happen ...But... Random Soldier Dude.... For real Froots? 23. It IS sad about Frasier though ...Knowing this was gonna happen at some point all leading up to now whenever you joked about Frasier being kind of a shitty doctor I was always thinking ....Sheesh.. What is she gonna think about Heroes? ...Glad to see you were able to muster up some empathy ....Sadly no tears... But I've never seen you cry during SG-1 so I wasn't expecting it ...It was more of a shocking moment I suppose ...Maybe also relief that it wasn't O'neill 24. Yeeeaaaahh.... "The guy who won't shut up" has put some words on paper for Carter to use ...Teal'c is just a big softie isn't he? 25. There was probably a proper funeral or cremation that we didn't see after the one in the gateroom ...But I suppose it wasn't in the budget to do a location shot and also get the actress who played Cassandra to show up ....But this little shot at the SGC was still touching

We are told by Daniel that the most likely reason for this whole documentary is because the current president wants the Stargate program documented before he leaves office. This is not the first time we've been told that the president's administration is coming to an end. Last season, Maybourne told Jack he wanted the president to grant him a pardon as the president's second term was ending soon. A US president is allowed to serve a maximum of 2 terms. Since each term is 4 years, a president is allowed to serve 8 years in total and since the show is on its 7th season, it looks like his time is almost up. We've basically had the same president since the pilot episode. The reason this matters is because the president has the ultimate power when it comes to the SGC. He is the boss of everyone's boss. That's why its important that the next guy in charge is a strong ally. Senator Kinsey has been looking forward to this moment since the beginning of the series as he has expressed, multiple times over the years, an interest in running for office when the president eventually leaves. In this episode he confirms he is indeed running.

This is one of those episodes I've enjoyed more on rewatches than my first.

From what I have heard, this story came about because the producers were all but certain the series was coming to an end with season seven and wanted to tie things up with a few shocks. When news of renewal came, the producer went to Teryl Rothery's home to personally apologize for writing her out. By the way, Ms. Rothery was okay with how her character went out in heroic fashion.

Heroes Part 2 was the 150th episode of the show I absolutely love the writing for Emmet Bregman. In part 1 I was with the perspective of the SCG personal & I didn't like him. Part of it was how he carried himself. Once he made his whole freedom of press speech all of sudden my perspective changed & I was on his side & believed he was always in the right. I understood everything he was trying to do & that while I understand why the SGC was resistant to him, I know feel they were in the wrong as to how they treated him. So I appreciated how that while the character hadn't changed, all it took was shift of perspective to make me see the other side I do think they screwed up in editing the episode. I felt the episode would be better if the scenes went like this, Hammond kicks out Bregman, then the scene with Hammond & Woolsey, then Hammond saying to Daniel maybe there should be a record of what goes on here. Having the Hammond Wolsey scene, Hammond kicks out Bregman then immediately changes his mind is a little confusing As for Dr. Frasier dying the producers said it was because they felt they were loosing the feeling of jeopardy when everyone gets out alive, so they felt it was time to kill someone important to try to rebuild the sense of danger when things go wrong

In all honesty back when this episode first aired in 2002, they had me pretty fooled. That’s why I was shocked by the ending.
