Much of the appeal of this series is we get to learn a little about all the characters we have seen in the background of the movies and other shows but now they are explored in more detail. Right or wrong a defining characteristic of the Jedi is they don't kill when they don't have to (kind of like Daredevil or Batman). And as we have heard many times Revenge is not the Jedi way. Using the force is dangerous, once you start down the dark path its seduction is hard to resist and can lead to complete corruption of the soul of the force user. So they must tread carefully.
