Not sure if you noticed, but a joke I liked was when they're in Atlantis and they first dial the gate, McKay goes "Chevron One encoded", Weir scolds him saying "Rodney," and McKay seems sad because it seemed like he wanted to be the new Chevron guy and do each symbol one by one. I think this was the show's slightly meta way of telling the audience in yet another way that we're going to be different than the other show.

We get much more insight into the history of the Ancients in this pilot. At some point after the Ancients were done seeding the Milky Way galaxy with Stargates, for some unknown reason, they took Atlantis from Earth and travelled to Pegasus. In fact, the opening scene of the episode was the Ancient woman watching from the Ancient outpost as the Ancients were leaving Earth and travelling to Pegasus on Atlantis. She was left behind and did not go with them. Hence us finding her frozen millions of years later in season 6. If only she didn't lose her memory in that episode lol. She could have explained everything back then. The Ancients then seeded Pegasus with Stargates as you can see. Even some in orbit of planets this time. The reason the Pegasus Stargates look different is because they were built by the Ancients a long time after the Milky Way ones were already built. They are essentially the next generation of Stargates. The Milky Way Galaxy Stargates are much older and so are an earlier model. An IPhone 5 vs an IPhone 6. As stated by the hologram, after their war with the Wraith, the Ancients decided to leave Pegasus and return back to Earth leaving Atlantis behind in Pegasus. The fact a race as advanced as the Ancients struggled with the Wraith speaks to the Wraith's power.

Narim from Tollan loved Earth so much he came back and became Dr Weir's husband xD

Excited for Atlantis. I actually got into stargate from this show first, then went back and watched SG1 years later.

I never did notice that!

It would've been cool if they had at least 1 line of dialogue in that scene where they said her real name, because all we know is the name Ayiana that Dr. Michaels assigned her

There will be a watch order page like arrowverse years going forward but for now it’s just: the movie then seasons 1-8x02 by the time you’re up to that they’ll definitely be a page where you can watch in the same order.

The original plan there was a new scientist character in the role that McKay has called Dr. Ingram. David Hewlett who played McKay auditioned for the role. Brad Wright & Robert Cooper really liked his audition, but were hesitant to cast him here since he had played McKay on SG-1 (I guess incase they wanted to use McKay again) eventually they just said the hell with it & rewrote Dr. Ingram to be Dr. McKay & Hewlett got the job As for Sgt. Harriman (the gate tech you mentioned) in the audio commentary it was mentioned that there were plans to have Sam & Teal'c appear in the 1st episode of Atlantis too, but they were characters created by both Brad Wright & Jonathan Glassner for SG-1, so for legal purposes they needed Glassner to sign off on them appearing in a new show, which they didn't get in time so those 2 had to written out. I'm guessing since he was in the SG-1 pilot Walter Harriman also falls under the same category & was not legally allowed to appear in the Atlantis pilot I love the Pegasus galaxy gates, partly because blue is my favorite color, but I also like the streamlined "digtal" dialing as opposed to the older gates in our galaxy being more analogue. I've seen pointed out though the Pegasus gates have 1 big draw back. with no moving inner track, if the DHD is destroyed or disabled you have no way of manually dialing a Pegasus gate like you can a Milky Way gate on SG-1

Let's goo! Edit: Did you notice the woman at the very start of the episode is the same one they thawed out in Antarctica in SG-1?
