2024-08-04 03:38:23 +0000 UTCDaniel and Vala didn't have sex, no. Vala is just trolling Daniel for her own amusement. Lying, stealing and trolling is all this woman knows. Daniel obviously doesn't like her. Daniel's frustration with her no doubt stems from the fact that this is now the SECOND time he's attempted to go to Atlantis and BOTH times Vala has stopped him. (The Daedalus left to go to Atlantis while Daniel was unconscious due to Vala's bracelet linking them together).

2023-11-05 15:07:33 +0000 UTCI always liked the premise of this episode: A disbanded SG-1 where all our main characters have either moved on or, in Daniel's case, about to move on. And introducing new characters in the beginning of the episode was a good way to help sell the premise and stress out the audience a little. HOWEVER.... there has always been one fatal flaw with this episode: After Mitchell leaves the gate room (Which is within the first couple minutes of the episode), they LITERALLY SHOW YOU the season 9 intro which clearly shows who's still part of the show. Obviously this undermines the whole premise of the episode. Thankfully, that wasn't an issue here thanks to Tony 😁 I also know that by now you've been told that Sam is very much still apart of the show and that Amanda was just on maternity leave during this time so there's no need to worry there. As for Jack, you always kinda knew that there was a possibility that he would eventually leave the show given that the actor's schedule kept getting reduced season after season. In fact, you kinda predicted it was a possibility right after 7x22 when he was frozen in Antarctica. Overall, you might have felt more comfortable had you seen the season 9 intro like everybody else did when they first watched this episode, however seeing you confused and worried was much more interesting a reaction so I'm glad it was removed for 9x1.

I am pasting it exactly as first typed, to explain any oddities. This is it. The end. The show is over. At least as originally conceived. Season 8 concludes all the storylines planned for the show and it was supposed to end. Not because it was canceled this time, but because it was planned to be over. That's why it feels like it is wrapping everything up. It is. But SciFy wanted more seasons, and the writers and producers decided that they could do so, and create new stories. But they still wanted to wrap things up the way they planned. That's the end of the original comment. What follows is new. Behind the scenes, ScyFy (then Sci Fi) had canceled the very popular show Farscape after they had previously renewed it and already signed on some of the cast members. They cancelled it to make room for Tremors: The Series, which nobody liked, and the press conference for it was filled with people angry they had canceled Farscape. It was a disaster. Anyway since they had some actors that had contracts, they decided to use some of them, particularly series leads Ben Browder and Claudia Black. Also, TVTropes refers to what they did here with Mitchell as "remember the new guy." It's a bit jarring, to say the least. Amanda Tapping was pregnant at the time they filmed this, which is why she only appears by video call from the shoulders up.

2023-11-04 02:21:58 +0000 UTCKinda. Sci Fi(now Scyfy) wanted another SG1 season, so they externally called it season 9 but internally consider it a spinoff. So this episode was filmed like a pilot.

2023-11-03 20:29:16 +0000 UTCI love this season. Its definitely one of my favorite seasons i think. You will get used to the new characters and when you do i hope you end up liking them! This was originally meant to be a spinoff but since it had too many of the original cast returning they felt like it was pointless to make it a spinoff and just decided to make it season 9. It definitely feels different but it still feels like sg1 to me so im glad it wasnt a spinoff. Vala and Daniels bantering is one of my favorite things in the entire show. Its always amusing and hilarious. You can tell they care about each other in a weird way but still get annoyed at each other. I lowkey ship them tbh
