A bit later here, but I wanted to point out that when Bratac met the zen guy protecting the baby, he expressed a desire to seek ascension, but was told the symbiote he carried made him illegible. That's the only time something like that happens to my knowledge.

It's weird that Bra'tac is talking about how the Jaffa have now come to realise that The Ancients will never grant them a quick path to ascension .....I don't really recall the Jaffa ever mentioned WANTING. to find enlightenment and all that kinda stuff .....Was this just kinda written in so that the Jaffa would still matter now that their former gods are defeated?? Cause I can also not find ANY. other reason for them to try and side with The Ori other than the false promise of ascension 6. I believe the slomo shot was used to signify that the soldier was close to infecting Hammond ....I feel it was a bit redundant since later on we find out that the whole world got infected regardless ....I guess the show creators figured infecting Hammond was a bigger "oh no" moment than infecting the entire frikkin world 7. Yeeeeeaah ...Another episode where an alien virus is reminding us of a certain world wide pandemic .....Man... IF. Stargate was ACTUALLY. a cover-up ...Was Covid just another alien virus? 8. Yup... Cutting out the Previous Leon was worth the effort ...You were surprised by his appearance and hearing you call a kid "Creepy Dude?!" was hilarious 9. So yeah you were right on your assumption a couple of episodes ago ...The Ori get their power from their followers belief in them ....This is why The Ancients appear to be sitting on their asses and do nothing .....I GET. why they do it ....I STILL. don't like them for not doing anything .....Why have all this power and then do nothing?! That doesn't really make you much better than The Ori .... And think about it... Set aside daily 6 hour prostration ...The Ori WOULD. help their followers ...Sure... It's so that their followers will worship them and they gain more power ...But that only means it's in The Ori's best interest to help their followers ......Meanwhile entire civilisations in the Milky Way are getting killed off cause of some plague and The Ancients aren't doing SHIT. .....Suddenly praying to some ascended beings for 6 hours every day doesn't sound all that bad .......That said ...Fuck religion... As someone who has watched all of Stargate a bunch times over ...I've never really took notice to all the frequent times that blue jello showed up on screen in the mess hall scenes of both SG-1 and Atlantis (and perhaps Universe aswell.. we'd need to get to that part for me to perhaps notice it) .....And I can't help but think ....The hell does that stuff even taste like???? ....Smurfs?! 11. YUP! ....Kid Orlin STILL. likes Carter ....As in... LIKES. Carter ....It's pretty fucking weird to see a kid hit on her like that ....But also ...Perfect opportunity for her to throw in a sneaky "I'm seeing someone" ....Maaaaaaybe referring to O'neill??? Oh well 12. Gerak: "You can not win the hearts of the Jaffa by needlessly spilling the blood of the innocent" ......."Hold my beer" said the Goa'uld 13. Cheap shot of the Doci (d'oh - sigh)... Him turning around to Gerak and saying "Hallowed are The Ori" ....That shot is 100% taken from 9x03 ....I wonder how much the actor got paid for not even being there 14. Nah... They didn't give Gerak a mustache just so he'd have some grey hairs on him like the other Priors do ...I think in EVERYTHING. I've seen the actor in (which honestly isn't much as it was more in passing when my dad watched an old movie) he's always had the mustache .....I did like the part though where his gold forehead symbol had appeared to have been melted down and created some sort of Ori writing on his face 15. It's not just weird that Lam hasn't caught the virus yet... It's weird that EVERYONE. at the SGC isn't dead or dying ....They were the first to get into contact with it on Earth yet there's only a few people in the infirmary and everyone else is just walking around like it's just another Wednesday ....Must not be THAT. bad of a virus (said every Covid conspiracy believer) 16. Teal'cs plan to stop the Jaffa from following Gerak is to AGAIN. go back to Chulak and risk an all out civil war?? .....It's the EXACT same plan he had in the previous episode! ...I feel this whole Jaffa storyline is just put in there to plug some holes created by having too much time left in some of these episodes ....But then again ...The Jaffa have always been an integral part of the show and it's basically a continuation of Teal'cs story sooooo... I'll allow it 17. Soooooo this little shit just said that the knowledge of curing the virus is too much to hold onto while he also remembers what it was like being an Ancient .........Why the fuck is he holding onto what it was like being an Ancient!? .....Basically he's saying he's holding onto USELESS. personal shit and risking losing his fucking mind when he SHOULD. have just descended with ONLY. the information he NEEDED. to give us and he should have left his personal shit up in the higher plains of existence or whatever ......Dude risked not only coming down here with the knowledge to save US. .....BUT... This little shit has also been hitting on Carter ...Cause sure... Carter would deeeefinitely be ALL. IN. with dating a 12 year old ...SMH 18. Not sure what Daniel and Mitchell were expecting here ....They're trying to tell this Prior that The Ori have been lying to him ...Imagine ...Having grown up in a galaxy where Origin is taught to everyone from the moment they're young enough to fall for it and understand that this is the way it's been done for countless generations ....And this guy... Who was so devoted to his religion ...So devoted to the lies The Ori fed him and his people ....A guy who as thanks for his unrelenting devotion was turned into a Prior ....THIS. is the guy they try to convert????? Come on guys!!! That was NEVER. gonna happen 20. Random question... But where did the SGC get this HAZMAT suit that fits a child??? ...No... Hold on... Better question... WHY are they making suits that small?? Aren't these suits made for scientists?? ....Y'know ...I dunno about you ...But I don't know any child scientists 21. Yeah... Great... The virus apparently hasn't hit Australia yet ...Y'know what that means right?? A bunch of idiots are on their way to Australia to hide from the outbreak! ....Get ready Froots cause they're gonna show up! 22. I feel it was already pretty clear that The Ori wouldn't stop at taking over our galaxy ...That their true purpose was to wipe out The Ancients ....Although seeing Orlin confront the Prior was still pretty cool .....Question though... Why did the Prior turn around and try and choke Landry?? Wouldn't the most logical choice there have been to try and choke Orlin?? The little shit just said he was an Ancient ...The Ori hate The Ancients and they're there to kill them ....Might as well get started ....Also how FUCKED. UP. would it look if a Prior just started choking a kid??? ...It would sure send a clear message that The Ori aren't fucking around 23. Yeaaaaahh... As one final arc of redemption Gerak turned against The Ori and helped us create a cure for everyone on Earth ....Dude was an idiot... But not a COMPLETE. idiot 24. Aaaaand Orlin lost all who he was ....Sad ...But also ...At least Carter doesn't have to worry about some kid peeping through her bathroom window ...Small victories Froots

2024-01-28 16:24:21 +0000 UTCI see Orlin maintained that creepy factor; A child telling a grown woman he still has feelings for her is awkward af. That ending for Orlin was pretty sad though. He sacrificed himself to save us. At least we now have a cure and a functioning anti-prior device thanks to him. Our first win in a series of Ls. The anti-prior device was also created thanks to the knowledge gained from studying Anubis's son's brain which is why that episode was better placed in season 9 rather than season 8.

2024-01-28 16:18:24 +0000 UTCI feel like one of the benefits of having gone through the COVID pandemic is being able to understand everything happening in these two episodes. I understood the medical terminology they were using and actually appreciated how accurate it was given this was done well before the global pandemic. From the way they were trying to contain it from state to state and then trying to prevent it from going international. Even when they started saying people were not buying the cover story it reminded me of when people didn't believe COVID originated from a bat at a seafood market in China. Without the pandemic, a lot of this would have probably gone over my head.

2024-01-21 20:27:04 +0000 UTCOur real life pandemic was only worse than prior ones because of the media and social media hysteria and the way the government overreacted. Having lived through a few pandemics and less connected times it does not linger in my consciousness. And of course having seen this episode both before and after that really wouldn't have even entered my thinking. Regardless until we reach a point I can't talk about this is my favorite Ori episode so far. That's how I feel about it :)

Did he overpower it? Can he now continue to overpower it? Good job Garrick, nice redemption there. Poor Orlon, maybe he will grow up to be a toaster repair man.
