Why the FUCK. does Atlantis not possess the ability to just beam Rodney and this other dude out of the Jumper??? ....We're talking about THE. city of The Ancients ...The most advanced civilisation in the known universe ....Their most advanced type of beaming technology only allowed them to teleport a person from one tiny room to another tiny room???? ...C'mon son 8. Yeeeeaaahhh... A Puddle Jumper ...A ship designed by The Ancients ...Can't survive under the pressure of water?? ...I'm starting to think the Ancients weren't as technologically superior as we are led to believe ...I feel like ALL. of their technology found on Atlantis should technically be SUPER-O.P. given the people that built it ....But the show is treating the Puddle Jumper like it's built by Schnitz ...As in.. A company that has ZERO. business making spaceships and should stick to schnitzels 9. Yeah there was absolutely NO. reason for Captain Mustache to run into the cockpit of the Jumper to save McKay ....I'm faaaaaaiiirrrlly certain that there's a mechanism SOMEWHERE. in the back that would allow them to close that door and I BET. that the button McKay and Captain Mustache were hitting ISN'T the only thing in the back compartment that would get that job done ..added later.. The backdoor of the Jumper had 2 levers in the back soooo.. Why not the middle door?? 10. Oh for real??? The radio transmitter was in the cockpit and this means Atlantis won't be able to find McKay?? ....Man... That's GOT. to be a GHUGE. blind spot in Atlantis's sensors ...Y'know ...The thing that can spot Wraith ships several light-years away and could spot Ford in the ocean in 2x01 ....Yeah nah ....McKay is FUCKED. 11. Soooooo.. Given that everyone is running around figuring out HOW to save McKay and nobody is pointing out the obvious "Put a shield around his Jumper" ....I'm guessing the shield that was around the Jumper when that Wraith guy took it over back in 1x12 WASN'T part of the Puddle Jumper's design?? It was actually Wraith technology .....Someone in the YouTube comments said Puddle Jumpers had shields ....Welp... Apparently NOT. until we Macgyver'd one together and installed it in 2x14 ..A full season later ....That... Or plothole 12. Awkward ....McKay thinks he's hallucinating Carter being there for only one reason ....Getting laid ...And yet he's still not getting any ...Normally you'd think that the reason would be that subconsciously he knows he doesn't have a shot with her ....Buuuuuttttt in this case there's an alien whale outside who is actually helping McKay out 13. I noticed a bit of a fuckup actually ....McKay has been touching AND. slapping his head wound several times during the episode yet his hand is never covered in blood ....I've been around blood enough to know it doesn't become invisible if you touch it 14. And another thing!!! ...I'm just gonna have to assume that the Atlantis Expedition is using Earth based tech to communicate with Sheppards Jumper and that THIS. is why they're losing contact ....Cause if it's Ancient communications technology ...Then holy shit are they losing points when it comes to being the "most advanced civilisation in the universe" 15. Ok I feel like we didn't need to have explained that the deeper they go the less power they have to use the Jumper's shield .....OFCOURSE. the pressure is gonna build up the deeper they go meaning it'd take more power to keep the shield up ....That felt really like they were treating the audience as dumb 16. Interesting... Extending the shield didn't push McKay's Jumper into the abyss ...It for some reason just extended over it like the shield KNEW. it was an object that was allowed to pass through ....We got 3 minutes of episode left ....Sure

2024-02-28 03:43:39 +0000 UTCThe “Gun” noises heard is common when glass breaks from compressive force. As far as the windshield breaking due to the Jumper going deep in the ocean. The force on the windshield at 1200 feet would be about 520 psi. Assume the windshield is 3 meters by 2 meters. This would result in a force of almost 2 million kilograms. The could not get the door to shut using the switch in the back compartment. The pilot ran into the front area to try the switch there so that Rodney could have a chance to survive. There wasn’t time for him to jump thru. Very brave of him to sacrifice himself. Hey Sam is here, well, Amanda Tapping is here playing Rodney’s subconscious. The episode where Sam hallucinates a helping friend in space is 7x13 and is titled Grace. This episode is Grace Under Pressure. As in same situation but now 'Under Pressure' as in under water. Funny writers. I really like this episode. We get a deep dive (pun intended) into McKay’s character. See some funny moments with his interactions with imaginary Carter. And we get to see Amanda in a wet underwear. Yay. Rodney mentions he needs decompression, but they just ignore it. That’s not good. Going from deep ocean pressure (like that at 1400 feet) to regular atmospheric pressure causes massive amounts of destruction to the body’s cell tissue. This is called the bends. This can cause permanent joint damage, bone deterioration, lung damage, blindness and often death. What they could have done is increase the pressure in the rescue jumper to match that of the sunken one, They could then remove him from the sunken ship, carried him to the rescue jumper. Then once on surface slowly decrease the pressure in the rescue jumper to back to atmospheric over a couple days. This would have resolved the issue and would have only taken a couple lines of dialog to do.

Maybe not because of the scenes at atlantis but with the majority of the episode being on the sinking jumper it felt like a bottle episode which can be really good to deeply evaluate characters, which we saw some of that with mckay.

2024-02-16 03:48:48 +0000 UTCGreat episode, although I half expected Sam to be an Ancient, especially with that golden glow streaming on her at times. Also it seems the sea creature was intelligent and trying to help as it circled McKay to alert the rescue effort and left immediately afterward.
