Stargate Atlantis S02E20 - Allies FULL REACTION

Comments

Watching the review of the comments on the previous episode, and I'm with Shan. What is the ultimate end goal to solving the threat of the Wraith in Pegasus? A treaty? Is peaceful relations between humans and Wraith actually, realistically possible, let alone viable? They want to 𝘦𝘢𝘵 us. The Wraith don't see us as being at war with them, they see us as livestock; and every once in a while, the cattle try to bite them back. To the Wraith it's mostly just a nuisance. The Wraith fought the Ancients, at the peak of Ancient society, and the Wraith 𝘸𝘰𝘯. Prior to Michael, every encounter with the Wraith amounted to: kill the Wraith on sight, before they can kill you. This is an alternative where no one actually has to die. It's extreme, and occupies a very dark and murky ethical gray area; because it's true, conventionally it would be grossly unethical to force any person to undergo a medical procedure against their will, particularly if it causes risk to the person's health or even endangers their life - which is applicable to some very important contemporary subjects in the real world. Killing is arguably, inherently unethical, whether it's one person or a million; and yet, we justify it if our own live or the lives others are immediately on the line and say it becomes more ambiguous the less urgent the threat is. But the wraith are a persistent threat. The genetic treatment shouldn't be considered a "cure" per se, and it doesn't 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦 a mutation, if they were presumably born that way; in which case the treatment causes a mutation; one that neutralizes the threat, without the physical loss of life. If they can reconcile the psychological effects, the loss of identity, it would arguably be better than over hostilities, where the best hope for survival is everyone shooting each other or blowing up their ships.

> > > !!!FOR SHANNAN!!! < < < 1. No Froots... Nobody in 2x19 played Yogi Bear ....The note was a joke on the fact they brought up Yellowstone Park ....Yogi Bear lives in the fictional "Jellystone Park" which is based on Yellowstone Park 2. Yeah that Stream Deck was definitely bit of a mispurchase ..Luckily it was a gift ...But it only works half the time ...Might as well bring the button back 3. Coincidentally ...AGAIN... The week we're talking about beaming a building into space.. We also posted the episode of SG-1 where that event happened 4. The hell is a Captain Kirk Chair? ......That note said Captain's Chair you dum dum ....You think every captain on Star Trek sits in a chair named after that ONE. guy? .....James T. Kirk wasn't even the first captain of HIS. ship ....You end the note with: "I don't just... Talk out of my ass" .....Nah ....You just add random extra words to things ...You frikkin Froot Loop 5. No worries... I'm gonna cut your question of how long the Wraith will be the enemy on this show OUT. of the edit ...I'm sure people on Patreon are wise enough NOT. to answer any stupid questions after you ask them and then tell people NOT. to answer ...But there are some people on YouTube who will gladly answer questions and ruin your experience (most of the time I delete them before you see them though) 6. Connor Trineer (dude from Enterprise) is credited for this episode ....However he only provided the voice of Michael as the actor was unavailable due to the birth of his kid ....The showrunners felt it was needed to use the original actor's voice instead of the guy you saw on screen in this episode ....Not sure why 7. Ok so... It appears we've found the line that you won't cross ....Turning the Wraith into humans ...Fine.. Whatever ...BUT... Giving the Wraith the means to turn their fellow Wraith into humans so that they can feed on them ...Nah... THAT'S where the line is drawn ....Kinda weird cause it DOES. kinda take care of the Wraith if they start to feed on eachother ...But I guess that's not the outcome you want? ...Who knew YOU'D be the one to draw the line at cannibalism used in a fictional world ....You are a complicated person Froots 8. You about the Wraith Hive Queen: "Looks like a very different woman Wraith" ....And yet... Played by the same actress every single time so far (1x02 / 2x10 & 2x11) ....But yeah.. Her skin tone is different from the ones we've seen before ...I'm not sure why that is 9. Aaaaaaaand that's where Weir and Sheppard SHOULD. have clued in that this was all a ruse ....This Wraith Queen just openly admitted that by using the virus and turning their enemy into humans they would greatly diminish the amount of Wraith in existence ....You're just OPENLY. admitting to your enemy that in due time you will be insignificant and "easy pickings" ......That has to either be the DUMBEST. strategy I've ever heard of ...OR... RED FLAG!!!! It's a trap!!! .....Why would you believe your enemy when they basically say: "Hey.. Just wait it out.. You'll easily be able to defeat us later" 10. You about the Wraith this episode: "This is the most human we've seen them... There's something different about them... And I'm curious why" .....Most likely cause it's all a ruse ....Lure your enemy into a false sense of security ...Make them think you're on their side ....It's much easier to get away with stuff that way cause they'll have their guard down as we can see by the end of the episode when we find out the data that they gave Atlantis was just a virus programmed to steal information from us and self delete after a short time ...The Wraith got information on better hyperdrive technology, the location of Earth and we got FUCKED. ....Sounds like a pretty unfair deal to me 11. Ok so here's a bit of a nitpick ...They're talking about having to beam McKay and Ronon back to the Daedalus while it's under fire by the Wraith ships ...Ok ...Cool ...BUT... It has been WELL. established in sci-fi that you CAN'T beam to/from a ship that has their shields up ....And the Daedalus most decidedly has their shields up right now since it's under fire ...This whole "McKay and Ronon are stuck on a Hive ship" plot development was OBVIOUS. as fuck for anyone who knows sci-fi (even a person who'se only seen roughly 11 seasons of combined Gateverse episodes) ....You CAN'T use beaming technology while a ship has their shields up ...Period. 12. One thing that just occured to me though ....The data that the Wraith gave us was programmed to delete itself sure ...BUT... Are you telling me nobody was smart enough to take some other type of evidence of it? ...Like maybe someone took pictures of all the data or even recorded some video footage of it? ...Maybe someone wrote/typed down as much as they could onto another computer??? ....ALL. of it is just GONE.?? ....I find that a bit hard to believe 13. Yeah good luck to those 2 Wraith ships ...Our galaxy is currently being overtaken by a much more powerful enemy... I hope the Wraith are willing for follow the path of Origin.. And the award for Bad Timing goes to...

I was shifting tabs to write a comment about the Wraith accepting Origin when I heard you beat me to the joke.

The life support question from earlier isn't really a plot for plot's sake moment. The daedaluis' life support is being asked to supply the survivors + the daedalus' full crew, which is roughly the amount the LS is designed for. The orion's only has to do the survivors because its crew consists of mckay, shep, and the science woman
