> > > !!!FOR SHANNAN!!! < < < 1. You: "I'm 10 seasons in and I still don't understand the sci-fi stuff sometimes" .....Yeeeeeaaah... That's pretty sad 2. While Sam and Mitchell do seemingly "co-lead" SG-1 ...It WAS. Mitchell who was given the opportunity to ask for whatever he wanted back in 9x01 cause of his part in saving SG-1 from death during the battle of Antarctica (Which is kinda weird he gets to ask this but ok) ...His request was to LEAD. SG-1 ...Which then led to most of SG-1 coming back (Minus O'neill.. Yeah miss him too) ...So while Mitchell DOES. often refer to Sam's advice in things... Which seemingly makes it look like they are co-leading the team ...He IS. the leader of SG-1 and ultimately "outranks" Sam on the team (even though they're the same rank) ...It's complicated and in my opinion they should have done a better job explaining it on the show ....ALSO. in my opinion they SHOULD. have given Sam command of SG-1 instead and just added Mitchell as a new team member but maybe as a Major or something instead 3. The Goa'uld are NOT. a "hive mind" (I dunno who told you that but that's wrong) ...They are NOT. linked to eachother and so if something happens to one Ba'al.. Then another Ba'al WOULDN'T know about it unless it happened right in front of him or if he was told about it ...This Ba'al (the one that crashed on Earth) is claiming he's the real one and that he wasn't on Earth during that previous episode where we found out he had clones ...And so he didn't hear about what presumably "his" clones were up to until much later ...Whether or not he's telling the truth remains to be seen ...Basically nothing Ba'al says can be trusted as being the truth ...He is after all a Goa'uld 4. How did Ba'al know about O'neill having access to the Ancient Repository Of Knowledge and some of the other information he supposedly knew about? ..Given it's never shown any and all explanation is just fansplaining ...BUT... The most logical explanation however is that considering Ba'al is supposedly the leader of The Trust and said organisation has spies everywhere on Earth (and possibly even Atlantis) ...He got his information that way ...Again.. It's not shown... It's just us.. The viewers.. Drawing the most logical conclusion ...Cause we're smart ...Some of us ...Sometimes 5. That said ...You COULD. say it's a plot hole though ...If you wanna be a dick about it 6. We are being INSANELY. stupid this episode ...We're dealing with a bunch of clones and we can't figure out who the real Ba'al is ...So something just clicked in my head ...We have an ally that has a LOT. of experience dealing with clones ...Hell... Their ENTIRE. civilisation is made up of clones ...Why don't we ask the Asgard for a little help??? 7. Agent Barrett: "General.. I understand you got yourself a few extra Ba'als" ...You: "Really? They didn't make a joke out of it?? It was right there! C'mon!!!" .....Froots... That WAS. the joke ...In fact ...They've been making Ba'al jokes throughout the episode ....Another one of note was Vala saying "Some Ba'als are bigger than others" earlier in the episode which from the looks of it you didn't catch ....One could say you ...Dropped the Ba'al on that one? ....No?? ..Ok 8. True... These clones were MUCH. too efficient with taking over several levels of the SGC... A base that's SUPPOSEDLY. the most well secured place on Earth ...It is as you said embarrassing 9. I meeeeeeeaaan... You're NOT. wrong ...They COULD. have taken out some Ba'als one by one ...It's risky though ...The clones had a bunch of hostages INCLUDING. Sam ...AND. they were in radio contact with eachother ...Soooo... If all of a sudden one OR. several Ba'als stopped responding then it wouldn't end well for the hostages .....Then again ...These are soldiers who have been taken hostage ...Soldiers defending the most important place on Earth ...They SHOULD. be ready to die... And I think if this were more of a real world situation ...The people in charge would have less of an issue about endangering their own given what's at stake 10. Yeeeeeahh.. That's a load of bull bull ....We've got jammers that prevent people from using beaming technology to get in and out the base ...But if you have enough people walking around with locator beacons then you ARE. able to using the transporters!?!? ....That's a HUGE. flaw in the jamming technology ....But not only that ...Why weren't those beacons removed from every one of those Ba'als the moment they got captured and brought back to the SGC?? ...Bit of an oversight there 11. And we end the episode with getting told that Agent Barrett was brainwashed ...I found the scene to be a bit flimsy and easily wrapped up ...Ofcourse we didn't have much time left in the episode and he's an unimportant side-character to be honest ...But I would have liked to have seen ACTUAL. confirmation he'd been brainwashed ...People were just making assumptions about him and how he'd "never do that" and whatever ...But we don't know him THAT. well ...He could have changed sides ...We don't know ...I would have liked to have seen BETTER. signs of him being brainwashed than merely him having a bit of a temper and him going in to see one of the Ba'als without proper authorisation

The special crystal was a security measure set up by the Ancients to keep the Wraith from just hooking up some ZPM they found and dialing back to the milky way on any old Stargate. It ensures you must go through Atlantis, which at the time they controlled, to get there. you don't actually need one to gate to the Milky way, but the gates were programmed to refused to dial there without it. A sort of physical electronic key, something that is actually used in real life.

Exactly what I came to comment on but you said it much better than I would have managed.

In the episode, one of the Baals explicitly tells SG1 that he knows about the weapon from Anubis (who himself would know about it from being ascended).

For the Mitchell/Carter dynamic, it is a tough spot. They are both the same rank so by that Sam isn't required to obey his orders, but Mitchell's assignment is leader of SG-1 & she is assigned to be under his command so by that she is required to follow his orders so it creates a little paradox As what was previous said, Ba'al would've gained some intel from his infiltration of Earth last season & probably through his brainwashing of Agent Barrett. Barrett could've given Ba'al more recent intel like Merlin's weapons. This is probably something a quick line of dialogue or 2 could've fleshed out to explain the source of Ba'al's intel, but I don't think it would really have a large impact on the story It had to be a good pay day for Cliff Simon for this episode because my understanding of SAG-AFTRA rules are that if an actor plays a secondary role that only they can play (like a twin or a clone), they have to get paid twice, so he should've gotten paid multiple times for this episode

In order for everything in this episode to make sense, we should start with a reminder on what "The Trust" is and how it began: We've had to deal with corrupt members inside the military and government since the start of the series (Remember the stealing of alien technology via the 2nd gate? Or the time O'Neill went undercover to expose and arrest them, one of which included Colonel Maybourne?) And everytime we catch some of them, more pop up a couple seasons later. (e.g. the time they made General Hammond quit his job by threatening his grandkids so that they could sneak a more corrupt general into the SGC. Or the time they stole the Prometheus on the very episode it was introduced ) Anyway, by the time we reach season 8, this corrupt group starts calling themselves "The Trust". Unfortunately, in one episode of season 8, when The Trust stole our stargate and were trying to kill off the Goa'uld and Jaffa using symbiote poison, a few of their members got captured by the Goa'uld. The Goa'uld implanted symbiotes inside these members to gain access to their knowledge. From this knowledge, the Goa'uld learnt about The Trust and the power this group has so they decided to send these Trust agents back to Earth and start taking over The Trust. Which leads us to where we are now. With Goa'uld spies in positions of power all over Earth (i.e. The Trust). Since Ba'al is a high-ranking member of the Trust, it is not surprising that he knows so much. It wouldn't surprise me if he knew about the things going on in the Pegasus galaxy too. In fact, the Trust even managed to get a spy onto Atlantis in the form of Colonel Caldwell.

Sorry behind again 10x2 That’s weird, the episode started with a cameo of the Replicator nullifier. Just trying to get more use out of pricey props that were created for previous episodes. Cheap Peter D. cheap. Jackson talking about Sir Gawain, Mitchell says “Isn’t he one of the Knights who say Ni!” lool That’s funny. And no, Gawain isn’t a Knight that says “Ni”. Plus they are no longer called the Knights who say Ni, They are the Knights who say “ekki-ekki-ekki-ekki-ptang”. (It’s a Monty Python Holy Grail joke). 10x3 The gate didn’t need a ZPM to power the cross galaxy bridge. They had stated before that the immense gravitational power that emanates from a black hole can power super gates across galaxies. In fact that’s how they Ori powered their super gate to cross from their galaxy to ours. I never got the “special crystal” thing needed to cross from our galaxy to Pegasus galaxy, I mean the gate on Earth crossed to Pegasus. There’s nothing special in our gate except it had a ZPM at the time. They also stated a few times it was a power issue connecting across galaxies as well as knowing the address. 10x4 Ba’al was working with the trust on Earth before he made the clones and The Trust had access to all the SG mission files, so he would know everything the SGC had done. Since this was before he cloned himself, all the clones would also have the knowledge.
