I caught some of the series when it was originally airing. It's an interesting premise and I enjoyed it. I never had the chance to go back and watch it from the beginning, so I never saw the pilot until now. I agree about the Lucifer vibes, and I think Lucifer managed to strike the right balance in tone, dialogue and characterization. Even in this episode, Henry's a little too much of a know-it-all, just because he's lived for 200 years. Sure, you'd inevitably pick-up on a lot of things, but like, what are the odds someone's going to be randomly stabbed by a sword that's historically obscure AND you're familiar with it? It's that Sherlock Holmes pitfall, where he can look at that woman's fingers and figure out she's a pianist. Again, I liked the show, but stuff like that's a little too much; especially when it's overdone within the story or defines a character; and that trope is pretty worn out in its own right. Just the same, I did like the dynamic between Henry and the woman on the train, however brief; and was a little disappointed she died so quickly.
