You want to talk about lazy language change editing, compare the Megaranger Henshin to the edit done for the Power Rangers in Space Morph. They literally slap new text on top of old text without really changing anything and call it a day. And somehow it mostly works.

2024-07-20 09:06:43 +0000 UTCJust checked the uploaded episode used to record this reaction and those Japanese subtitles are hardcoded. (as in, disabling the subtitles does nothing, the Japanese subtitles still appear.) Meaning with creating the dubbed English version they only replaced the audio and left the video untouched. So this can only mean that the original Japanese version came with hardcoded Japanese subtitles for when these characters were speaking English.

2024-07-20 08:54:00 +0000 UTCThe Japanese subtitles were there because, in the original version, that Pony girl was speaking English in the Japanese voice. Although, I'm not sure what the purpose of those subs were. Maybe it was just a joke.
