Update on OneHub

About 48 hours ago OneHub decided to suspend at least 7 different reactors cloud storage due to them not having the bandwidth for people downloading/streaming videos on their platform.

Since then, they have allowed us time to go onto our accounts and download our content before fully shutting down.

It's very disappointing that a website I've used for near 6 years has decided to end their relationship with me, but it is what it is.

I am looking into an alternative as currently I only have Dropbox and as you know, I am unable to upload Stargate to Dropbox due to different issues in the past.

Patreon does allow for us to upload videos directly on here now, but I'm worried about that becoming an issue in the future - I wouldn't want to have my Patreon account suspended.

So Stargate seasons 9 & 10 will be inaccessible until I can find an alternative website and upload/update those links on their posts. Unfortunately, nothing else I can do right now.

Here is what is needed to be done:

This is going to take a lot of time, so I'll keep you guys updated and I hope you're all patient with me as I'm truly having a hard time right now.

Thank you for your continued support. If you have any information or ideas, feel free to share.

Upcloud is getting more widely used now, it came out of the remanence of the original vidcloud. for data storage the pricing is $33 aus per terabyte each month and they have a scaling amount of HD streaming they allow. I'm not sure how much you were spending with onehub but you need to spend a minimum of $647.27 Australian per month before you can even start streaming anything. But then you get 35 000 hours of HD video streaming per month .

I like the idea about the posting in one post for now. Might do that. Thank you

I saw other reactors who, when they had to change the links for diverses reasons, created a pinned post on their page with a master list with all the shows and updated links. It could be much less work than going through all the posts… As for the site to uses, JuliDG uses several of them and Mega seems to be a consistent one for her and works well for me.

Darcieswatchinstuff(formerly known as darcies watching buffy) posts her reactions to website called vidyard and it seems like shes never had a problem with that

Some options that a couple other reactors I watch use are Streamable and Uplcoud. They seem like they're less commonly used, but they work really well for me when I'm watching videos on them so they might be worth looking into.

True, but it's kind of the same potential problem with some of these other storage options. She's having this exact issue with OneHub, and is worried about Dropbox possibly giving her trouble. Kind of six of one, half a dozen of the other. In either case, backing up is essential.

Using her website storage would have the downside of having all her eggs in one basket. Though I assume Tony has everything backed up as well. He seems the type (I'm amazed the number of reactors that have lost content but it isn't a business for all of them)

What is your website built on? Like WordPress, square space, Joomla? And yes, Joomla is a real word. Many of those content management systems have plugins for video players, that depending on your web hosting plan, you could upload the videos to your website server space and then embed them in a restricted area of the site. It might require creating a sort of managed user system, if you don't have one already, that would peg user access to patreon standing. And don't get me wrong, I know that's easier said than done. Especially since it puts more tech on us on your web developer to keep everything working. But that's at least one thought.

Stargazer1682

Geez, I'm tired just reading that. I got to thinking about which player I liked from a user standpoint and the one that I never have any trouble with is Riley's (https://www.opendrive.com) which I can't imagine is terribly expensive as she is not in a position to be spending a lot. No idea if it fits your needs but I thought I'd mention it. Take it slow and don't stress, us chickens will wait for you.

My favorite player that reactors use: one I've heard very little complaints about and which don't take down videos too often is Streamable.

Yes I've had issues with google drive before

Does Google drive have limitations the same as Patreon ?

Narutoanime16

Vimeo has a similar problem to youtube and patreon just not as strict usually requires some sort of change to aspect ratio or adding a filter over the video, i know some reactors use it, MrVideo, Colette Cherry for example but Mrvideo stretches cuts a little bit off the bottom and top his video and Colette adds a colour filter or crops some of the video

Andrew Polinski

Why don't you use the Vimeo platform?

Yolanda Barrios Tapia

Yeah uploading to Patreon wouldn't work because they have the same policies as Youtube, which you would then need to switch to the sync with your own copy type deal. Also means you can't put your old videos here either. Their many that offer the same services as onehub, mostly used by Scene groups, they allow very large amounts of bandwidth some example Vidcloud, Upcloud. but they come with a large caveat , they generally have a short shelf life. I'll have a look around at some of the older storage services that offer the bandwidth you require.
