Jessica Jones S03E13 - A.K.A. Everything FULL REACTION (SERIES FINALE)

Comments

Season 1 of Jessica Jones was the best. Then I would rank season 3 over season 2. The finale was lackluster with Trish being the final bad guy. I do love the series and I hope for Jessica to return in Daredevil reborn.

As to my comments in previous episode about Mind-Wave aka Erik Gelden…is Erik in this season…the guy that gets the headaches around bad guys. Yeah, I expected at least one cameo and Luke was the logical person to do it. Now Trish is threatening innocent people, going further down the villain path. Well, Jessica just outted Trish. Damn, Jessica didn’t even flinch at that knife through her hand. I know you didn’t but I actually enjoyed this season. We got to see over 3 seasons the birth of a super villain. The self righteous kind that thinks they are the good guy but in reality, they are just a murderer. It was slow enough that it took a while to see that’s where Trish was going but I thought the trip was interesting. Ouch, that line. “I know, you don’t want to die alone, but you will.”. As for the Ending. I get it. Jessica had to destroy the one person in this series she loved, her sister. Yes it was Trish’s fault but still. And Jessica knows that she is the one that sent Trish to The Raft. Basically hell on Earth for Supers. That has got to be a soul crusher for Jess. That scene with the two of them on the docks at the end was VERY sad for me. I could feel the pain, love and regret of both of them as they looked at each other. To use a Buffy parallel. Its like the end of Season 2. And in fact in that one Buffy just up and left as well. No plan, no lead up, just get on a bus and go with a bag in hand.

I liked the finale a lot more than most, if not all of the other episodes this season. I didn't remember Luke showing up but I wish you didn't see his name in the credits. Would have been a cool thing to see your reaction to, being a surprise. I guess there's a reason I didn't remember much about what happened in seasons 2 and 3 and it was almost like watching them for the first time, because they pretty much sucked, lol. As has been talked about, season 1 is so incredible. Then they give us 2 very blah seasons. I guess maybe there was more reasons that one why this verse was getting cancelled one after the other. There were seasons of some shows, like this one, that were really good and then fell off. Then there were others that were mostly mid, or mostly bad. Daredevil is probably the only one out of these that was consistently good throughout. I guess it makes sense now why Trish was becoming very unlikeable, because they were building up to a villain arc for her. Now we see her go away to the Raft, which wouldn't have been as satisfying if the show didn't make us hate her so much. Hogarth finally gets what she deserves. I was really getting to dislike her as well and she was never really a good person but she was just becoming more and more ruthless and cutthroat. A good way to wrap up her story. They don't need to show her death. We already know she is not going to be ok. Yeah, the ending was kind of weird. Jessica seemingly is leaving town but for what reason? Then she makes it to the counter and is about to buy a bus ticket, when she hears Kilgrave in her head and just says nah? What was the point then? Why not just show her at Alias, coming to the realization that she needs to be the hero that everyone thinks she is? Kind of cheesy honestly. End of an era! Looking forward to seeing what replaces this slot.

When you mentioned Jessica's assistant being trans, my reaction was "no... I don't think so". But then I did a quick search, and what do you know.... she is trans and played by a trans actor. You see...THAT is how you put trans characters into shows. You put them in and just let them be, you don't go on about their sex, you just give the character good lines and a good story... which in this case was limited, but still well done. I liked her character and didn't know she was trans! I hate all those shows that feel the need to not only put trans (or gay or bi or whatever) characters into a show or movie and then go on and on and on about them being trans ... it's like you make their whole character about their sex and sexuality and they have nothing else! And if you dislike these characters because they have zero depth, zero personality other than their sex and sexuality then you are some sort of "phobe". Just write good character into a good storyline and people won't care if the are straight or gay or trans or whatever! So, well done Jessica Jones writers ...you wrote a good character, even if her role was limited!
