Just to clarify what i meant last week when i said the show always seems to handle heavy topics well despite how alex acted, I think showing characters going against what I think (hope) most people would consider the right thing to do is a good move, as long as they’re presented as being in the wrong. The show does a good job of that aspect imo. Some shows are scared to have main/prominent characters be flawed sometimes i feel. On to this episode - Derek is such an ass. He literally tells Meredith he’s choosing Addison over her then gets pissy when she tries to move on. Just so narcissistic and pathetic tbh. I totally agree with you about Izzy and Denny. It feels really gross. Not just because she’s his doctor, that would be bad enough on its own, but also the age gap seems huge. i’m not sure how old the characters are supposed to be and i’m sure he looks older because of the makeup making him look sick, but just visually it makes me uncomfortable. She looks early 20s and he looks like he could be pushing 50. There’s only about 12 years between the actors so it isn’t quite as bad as it seems, still kinda weird though imo. Despite what I said earlier in this comment, this is one thing that i think the show should/could have done better. Bailey absolutely wouldn’t stand for any of this crap that she’s seen happening and her not saying anything or stopping it seems very out of character.

But in any case Izzy said these chocolates are Swiss. Very sad episode. The father forgiving the guy that crashed into them was touching. Very well acted, you could see the emotions playing on his face. Yes, Derek is a huge jerk this episode. He has no right to be jealous. He left Meredith. Karev did good on the call for C-section but he is still an ass. I have to agree on the Lizzie Denny thing, it's kind of gross. Doctors are supposed to avoid emotional entanglements with the patients they treat. Not only because of Nightingale effect and all that, but it clouds good judgement in treatment.

2024-12-05 06:42:26 +0000 UTCThat's not a hot take for me. I always hated Izzie and Denny. Patients, especially ones who are dying, are extremely vulnerable. I wouldn't have hated it if they had simply met, talked while he was in the hospital, and dated afterward, but she has used his vulnerability to get him to agree to procedures. It's gross. I fell asleep at the wheel back when I was 17. I was driving 65 mph on the freeway and dozed off for a split second. Luckily, the only damage I did was to my car.
