Hi Shan, Happy New Year! Sorry for the late comment, been busy with work and Christmas, glad to know you had time off, we all need some, anyway thoughts on last two episodes of Doctor Who-
Doomsday: Epic and heartbreak when I watched it as a kid. Daleks vs Cybermen found it amazing, still think it's cool. Although now that I think of it the two are just fighting each other over whose the best. Feels like two guys of school bullies at war to prove who is the biggest bully and humans are the innocent school kids caught in the crossfire. Rose's departure is still sad, broke my heart when I watched it, because it felt losing a family member and friend. Nice way for her to leave without dying but still sad.
The Runaway Bride: Still fun to watch and was my introduction to Catherine Tate. Thought it was a little too soon after losing Rose, Donna started off being a bit of a Karen but she has just been abducted on HER wedding day, so I imagine she does have a right to be angry. Favourite scene is the base flooding, the Doctor standing there surrounded by fire and water, the music going dark, the whole thing shows just how badass and scary the Doctor can be. So word of warning, if the Doctor gives you a chance to surrender, please take it!

Hooray for not drinking the Olicity Kool-aid - and managing to rag on the pairing in the Atlantis reaction too, no less.
I'll be honest though, I felt pretty indifferent to Laurel and thought Ollie had the best chemistry with Sara out of everyone they tried to put him with; and absolutely killed it with Sara as Black Canary.
Then they tried to fix what wasn't broke, not once, not twice, but three times.
Anyway, this is a good episode. I can't say I loved Donna the first time I watched this episode, but I think I've come to appreciate her dynamic with David. He'd gotten used to Rose being starry eyed and impressed with him, and Donna doesn't give a shit.
Great big spaceship invading last Christmas? Nope. Cybermen and Daleks taking over the entire planet? On vacation.
And the Doctor's exhaustion of being called a Martian. "I...I...I'm not from Mars..."
Happy to see you continue with Doctor Who, and even giving Torchwood a try. I was slightly wondering about it when there wasn't anything on Wednesday, but since there wasn't anything Stargate reactions either, I figured there was at least hope...

Empress costume is one of the most impressive bits of practical effects I've ever seen. Truly well done in this episode.

Donna at the start comes off very harsh, abrasive and quite obnoxious but as the episode progresses you see she starts to soften up. A little bit more trusting of the doctor.
Catherine Tate is one of the best comedic minds in the UK, her best character is called "Nan" She is a foul mouthed, rude and insensitive grandmother, a parody of the old people who are still stuck in their old ways.
She has mentioned on a game show that in high school she had better grades in French (which she is fluent in) than she had in English, she is also fluent in Spanish. Just a few little tid bits about her

The air conditioner is not very loud for us.

Shan, reactors known as the Gallifrey Gals rag on the show runners quite often. I'm glad you are taking the holidays off, as I was going to suggest that anyway.

Just James, Patreon member, and we made it to my third favourite Christmas Who story - some facts you may not know.
Unlike previous Doctor Who aliens, The Empress of the Racnoss was not created using CGI. This decision was made early on so that the Empress could fully interact with the other characters. Weighing half a tonne, the main body was like a giant puppet and was worked by control rods. It was operated by four technicians as well as by Sarah Parish herself. When inside the costume, she was positioned as if on a see-saw so she could move the body up and down simply by shifting her weight slightly.
The first scene David Tennant and Catherine Tate filmed was the rooftop scene, having been away from the series for three months. Tate's involvement was still a secret, but fortunately, the lofty location helped prevent onlookers from recognising her.
I watch this episode every Christmas because it reminds me of a simpler time in my life when things were better. Catherine Tate was a British comedian starring in her own show and giving us the ‘Nan’ character which audiences seem to love, seeing her and DT run around taking on evil Christmas santa robots is as Christmas to me as John Mclane crawling through an air vent. (Yes it is a Christmas movie)
Also I don’t know if anyone has told you but Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who.
3 roses from me, until next time.

This was the first episode I saw of David Tennant as The Doctor. I was confused at first but by the end of it he had won me over. I love him, but what Donna said about the Doctor needing someone to stop him is spot on, the look he had watching the Racnoss’ spawn drown was one of the coldest looks I’ve seen on this show.

Yeah, making thumbnails for this show can sometimes be spoilers. I'm glad your continuing to react to the series, I do hope you enjoy it, as well as Torchwood.
I didn't particularly love this episode, I thought there were some good lines and the makeup and costume for the villain was impressive. But I wasn't interested in the villain or the secondary villain, the terrible fiance. I thought it was a bit sillier than I would like and at times I found Donna a little annoying.
