Grey's Anatomy S02E27 - Losing My Religion FULL REACTION

I think legally speaking the responsibility would lie with Burke and Webber. Bailey is a resident, so she’s still technically a student too. Afaik she wouldn’t have her own patients, it would be Burke’s name on the chart so he’s ultimately responsible. And Webber as the Chief. It would maybe be different if Denny had died as a result of her actions, but he didn’t. It feels very wrong though that there wouldn’t be legal consequences for Izzie, it definitely feels like there should be.

The problem with firing them all, is where do you stop. Technically speaking, as students the responsibility for the mistakes they make, legally, fall on their instructors, Bailey and Burke. He would have to fire Bailey and Burke for allowing Izzy to be a caregiver to Denny as well as allowing her friends to assist knowing the relationship they share may compromise them. And while he could fire all the interns, since 4 of them admitted they cut the wire and Karev for not saying who really did it, that would mean he would lose 7 doctors at the same time. The hospital would be in danger of losing its ability to care for the patient load and might have to be shut down until the doctors could be replaced. This would draw a massive amount of attention, including the public. This would result in scandal, medical license reviews, malpractice lawsuits, and possible insurance issues. The hospitals board of directors might decide to replace the entire surgical staff. Webber does NOT want this. By everyone sticking together they effectively stop any one or two (if Izzy gets fired he would have to fire Bailey as her supervisor) individuals from being fired. This may sound bad but I do kind of get them helping Izzy. It may be a cultural thing, but where I come from, you stand by your friends. Even when you know they are wrong. Especially friendships that are built on shared trauma. So called “battlefield friendships” create fierce loyalty. Where you will defend each other despite the ethics and knowing they were absolutely wrong. You still do it. I have been in situations like this. It’s not right, it’s not even ethical, but you feel the need to do it regardless of the consequences. It's a nitpick but when Finn says he will inject the dog with phenobarbital, Derek ask if that will stop his heart. As a neurosurgeon surgeon, Derek would absolutely know this as phenobarbital is an anti-seizure drug. Something a brain surgeon would work with frequently. The scene was very sad though. The whole Prom thing in the nursing station seems questionable. Even if it’s only acts as a distraction to patient care. With all that’s happened recently, not the time for sort of thing. I mean they could have put up a tent in the parking lot at least and done it there. And yep, you called it Shan…Denny died. By dying of a stroke, he relieves Izzy of any criminal charges, as he proposed to her after this happened. It would be hard for anyone else to say he held her responsible for any wrongdoing against him. And the fact that a stroke from a blood clot is not unusual after any surgery, means his death is unrelated to the wire cutting. In fact, the wire being installed could have been what caused the clot. They even mentioned he had problems with clots prior to this. I’m not a big Karev fan, but he is the MVP of this episode. Izzy by quitting actually saves the hospital a world of problems. If what happens comes to light (as of this time only a handful of people know about the wire cutting) they can say the responsible person resigned. No one else needs to be fired. Yeah, if they immediately went to Derek’s wife and told her, I think it would be a slightly less bad, but they didn’t. At least Finn seems to see something there. A good season. I hope you are enjoying the show. Yes, I know it gets frustrating at times but I feel that adds to the drama.

Alex was written to be an ass at the start of this episode, but if he's an ass, then so am I. Fire the rest of them for covering it up. When I first watched this episode, Denny looking that good right after the transplant seemed far-fetched, but I found out it was 100% true. Once I had woken up from the surgery, I felt like a completely new person. To answer your question. I never got to the point of giving up. I was in pretty bad shape (my doctors have since told me they didn't think I'd live long enough to get my transplant), but every time I went to the hospital, I saw people in much worse shape than I was. I figured that if they were still fighting, then so could I. Am I an evil person for being glad that Denny died? There needed to be a serious consequence for Izzie's actions. That and I'm glad this story is over. I hate cheaters. Hate them. Finn deserves so much better. I don't feel too bad for Addison. Derek and Meredith only met because she cheated on Derek.

Ok for starters, can already tell this is going to be a fun reaction just from the thumbnail. Yes. Absolutely disgusting that they’re all standing by Izzie. Even more disgusting imo that they pressured Cristina and Alex to take part in this weird “I’m Spartacus” moment. As much as i hate how they’re all behaving, all of these interrogations are so well written and acted. My favourite is the “I’m not going to be responsible for you becoming less human” moment between Webber and Cristina, followed by George interrogating himself while Webber watches on disapprovingly I think Doc the dog’s death is the saddest moment in this episode by far. Yeah not a fan of Derek and Meredith cheating at all. I kinda gave them a pass earlier because Meredith didn’t know about Addison and as far as Derek was concerned they were broken up, but this is so different. Kinda funny how Addison had that big dramatic entrance at the end of season 1 and she was presented as the cheating villain and now we all feel sorry for her. That look that Callie gave to Derek after finding him and Meredith is amazing. Says so much with just her eyes. Yeah Alex is great this episode. The speech and the way he picked up Izzie from Denny’s bed was really beautiful.
