Yeah, I hate how modern shows feel so sanitized and lifeless. Flaws and mistakes make the show much more fun. Especially since these flaws and mistakes can easily be used as development for the characters to do better in the future.

2025-01-12 16:13:23 +0000 UTCI do kinda agree in that obviously it's a show and built up for drama. I think there's a difference between being mad at a character and being mad at the show itself. Being mad at a character is fun and means you're invested in the show. As long as it doesn't make you mad at the show itself I think it's all fine. I said this a few episodes ago but people are flawed and I really enjoy when shows depict that and don't try and make all the main characters perfect flawless people, which is extremely common I feel like

2025-01-12 15:54:23 +0000 UTCOkay, I'm going to go against the grain here and offer a new perspective on the Izzie and Denny situation. This show is considered the most inaccurate medical show, but it’s also the most popular. They focus far more on character drama than medical drama—it's basically a soap opera set in a hospital. It's not meant to be realistic whatsoever; it's meant to have juicy drama between characters. The drama is the most important thing in the show, and that's why the characters do stupid things, cheat, do problematic things, do stuff they aren’t supposed to, but get rewarded for it, etc. It's a drama first and a medical show second; the drama will always be more important than realism. There's even a storyline that happens a bit later that the actors themselves think is completely out of character, and they hated doing it. I'm not going to say more because of spoilers, but that’s the point I'm trying to make. I don't see this show as real life, so I don't judge it like it's real life. I personally loved the Denny storyline. Yes, it was nonsensical, and Izzie should NEVER be a doctor again if it were real life, BUT it’s not real life. If this were real life, I would absolutely feel the same way as everybody else here, but I'm way more interested in the characters and their drama, and I root for them. So yes, I want Izzie to get her job back, but only because it’s a show—I love the drama. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I love the high-stakes drama this storyline created, where they do things they aren’t supposed to and do illegal things, etc. I just think it’s way more fun. Again, this is just my shitty opinion. I'm not trying to force my opinion on anyone; I just wanted to be part of the discussion and maybe share my point of view. Even when we disagree, it’s fun to have respectful discourse with each other.

2025-01-12 13:14:59 +0000 UTCI think I’d struggle too to name my top 5 characters at this point. Probably Bailey, Cristina and Callie (in no particular order) but after that i’m struggling a bit tbh. Well that was the exact reaction i was expecting and hoping for from you to “Can Izzie come back?”! Ridiculous of them to ask that, especially when Izzie is clearly not mentally ready to come back even if she was allowed. Not gonna lie the guy that can’t help but tell the truth all the time is terrifying to me. That’s probably my worst nightmare. Not that i lie a lot, but not being able to keep thoughts to yourself? No thanks Don’t like seeing Cristina pushed to the side like that by Burke’s mum. She deserves so much better and Burke should have been on her side and stuck up for her. Ok he wasn’t there when she was saying the stuff, but he very obviously knew what was happening. Was very entertaining watching Cristina tripping over herself trying to make a good impression though i can’t lie. I love the fact that Callie is the one that keeps interrupting Derek and Meredith. She always has the best facial expressions. Like some weird mix of disgust and pride. When meredith is flipping the coin for who to choose and Cristina says “brain surgeon should be heads”, it tickles me that Finn is a vet and the other option is tails. It fits too well. Alex did not waste a second chasing the woman into the bathroom. Why not i guess. She wasn’t his patient at the time and i can’t realistically see him falling for her in another Denny situation. I agree it’s absurd Bailey offered Izzie the job back. I do think there’s a lot of truth in what she said that she had some responsibility for it too (so did burke) but this isn’t just a “mistakes happen” moment. It’s clear Izzie wasn’t in the right mind when she did what she did and maybe that could factor in down the line, but this feels far too soon at the very least. Maybe i’ll put Izzie in my top 5 characters just for the entertaining reactions her insane actions give us! Did the ending with Mark coming out of the shower make me feel any better about Derek cheating on Addison? not really. I think it does drive home the fact that Derek and Addison’s marriage was realistically never going to work out though and was probably over as soon as the originally cheated on him, despite their efforts to try and make it work.
