The caves made for a great hiding spot from the dragons. The entrances are too small for the dragon to fit in and too deep for the dragons fire to reach them. This effectively nullified the dragons as a weapon, unless they could draw the Crab Feeders out into the open. As others have said Daemon, upset that his brother was going to save him and steal his glory, agreed to be the bait to draw the Crab Eaters out. I guess they never expected the King's brother to use himself as bait and couldn't resist going after him. Once they were out of caves, they sprung the trap. The Sea Snake charged down with his men while Ser Laenor Velaryon, his son, came in on his dragon to kill the archers above and with Daemon's dragon prevents the men below from running back into the caves.

2025-01-19 20:08:07 +0000 UTCDaemon went in under a white flag to draw out the crab feeder’s men and the crab feeder himself out of the caves. Daemons advantage was his dragon but everytime he tried to kill him they would all run into the caves. They drew some more parallels, this time between the King and Rhaenyra. the King killed the stag as part of the “royal hunt”, but one can’t really call what they did sport that's just what they wanted to believe, i guess. Then Rhaenyra kills the boar defending herself, fearing for her life. I loved that part where she walked back into camp, like a badass. Did you notice Viserys’ hand? he lost two fingers. and the white stag appearing to Rhaenyra when they were looking for it as a sign for Aegon means a lot imo to the story. They wanted to catch and kill it for Aegon, then it would be a sign he should be heir, not his sister.

2025-01-17 06:20:47 +0000 UTCIf you’re still confused on why Daemon was upset and attacked the messenger, the reason is Daemon started the war to make a name for himself and wanted to prove he didn’t need his brother’s help. Viserys sending aid to him was a blow to his ego and is what caused him to recklessly go in to end the war himself.
