It must have been so hard for him to say goodbye to everything he knew every decade or so, and that isn't even considering everything he has been through, everything he has had to do. Jaz's step-dad is such a ass. Remember from Doctor Who, it's stated Jack was from the 51st Century... yet he knew Estelle for a long time by this point......
