Last Stand of Ra Progress Report 4/9/19
Added 2019-04-09 23:01:16 +0000 UTCBeen hard at work on this for the last couple of days. Have been spending a lot of time researching to make sure that I get the lore right since I'm working both on a new NPC for the setting AND trying to stay true to what is known about prostitution during the time period. It's been a lot of fun to learn about both.
First, within ancient Egyptian mythology, Amun is a god, and a powerful one at that. Within the lore, him and Ra were adversaries before eventually merging to become one. Much like Hathor, I'm taking this God from the mythology and giving them a human origin while trying to stay true to the nature of the character. So far I'm happy with how he's turning out, and in time you'll see a shift in the character that's going to be fun to write.
The other thing I've been working on is prostitution within the setting. In Ancient Egypt, not only was prostitution common, it was often associated with the temples. Prostitution, and fertility, were both held in high regard during the time. I have a wide range of content I plan to write for this, but it's just going to be a few scenes at first and expand into more as the game continues to grow.
In total, I'm coming up on about 4k words of content for the week, including the introduction of a new NPC, descriptive text for a new location, three scenes for that can play out in this new location, and two partially written prostitute scenes.

NOTE: I used a lot more references than those, but those cover the basics of both. A lot of my time was spent researching how prostitutes fit into the temple setting (Which I found precious little about) and trying to plan scenes that both stayed true to what we know, and avoided contradicting what we know from history while writing scenes.
In other news:
One of my family members is paying for a trip. Me and my immediate family will be meeting up for about a week. This will take place next week and will be an eight day trip. I expect this to affect my work time, however I intend to put in some extra time this week as well as the week following the trip, so I'm hopeful that this won't affect the amount of content created this month, or that if it does affect it that the impact will be minimal.

That could be funny.
