Inheritance progress report.
Added 2017-01-11 21:47:52 +0000 UTCGot a little more than three hours of work invested in this today.
I wrote one interactive scene for the older sister today. Depending on your relationship with her, along with your choices, the scene can play out thirteen different ways. (So far. Going to go back and add a bit more to it later.) Once I wrap up the other options I want to explore, I just need to plug it into the game. This particular scene is generic enough that it will be able to play out anywhere in the house. While some of the scenes will work like this, many of them will be unique to a specific location. (For now, I want to present a few scenes that can play out anywhere so that the house does not feel so empty at this early stage in the project. In the future, additional scenes will be written to make each room its own experience.
Once I finished that, I decided to wade into the mechanical stuff for a little bit. Focusing on the clothing mechanics, I coded 22 clothing items, ranging from dresses, to socks, shoes, panties, bras, chokers, and headwear. There are a minimum of two options for each of those clothing slots. The clothing items themselves are complete, now I need to adapt the system for equipping items to each clothing slot. (Example: A dress would fill both the "torso" and "legs" slots. A choker would fill the "neck" slot, glasses would fill the "face" slot, hats would fill the "head" slot, etc. Right now, I've done the "clothing" slots, but eventually there will be a hand full of "jewelry" slots as well.)
Right now, I'd say that between planning and writing, this project is sitting at about 15% towards the first build. On the down side, progress has been slow the last couple of weeks on this front. On the up side, I'll be investing more time into this over the next week, and the things I've worked on so far have been getting a lot more attention than I had originally planned. (Instead of the 3-4 ambient scenes I had intended to write for each room of the house, I've written about a dozen for each of the two worked on so far. When I sat down to write up the first 4-5 clothing items in the game, it turned into 22. All good things for you guys, even if it means progress is a little slower than originally intended.)
Will be back to report more when I have more to report!
Wanton Cove news: I'll most likely be releasing a new test build of Wanton Cove for testers either this evening or some time tomorrow. One of the people I have helping with initial testing says I finally stomped the two big bugs I've been struggling to find these last few days, so when I release this test build, the impact of any lingering bugs should be minimal.
