Creator Shout Out! ThaumX

Its been a while since I've done a Creator Shout Out! and I wanted to remedy that.
Today, I bring to you ThaumX. They are a creator that I stumbled across only recently. Their current project is named Accidental Woman, and while its still very early in development, its already a gem in its own right.
For those of you who are familiar with SplendidOstrich's NewLife, the theme will be familiar. You start the story as a man, who is convinced to take part in an experiment which turns him into a woman.
Like NewLife, this game offers you a wide range of possibilities for how to build your character (Seems to me that there probably 25% more options in this game than you receive in NewLife), going so far as to actually give you a point buy system for selecting your stats going into the game. But then ThaumX takes things a step further by giving you a surprising amount of control over the kind of male character you would like to encounter in the game. And when it comes to fetishes and similar, you're even given a choice of how much you (Or men) are affected by the fetish in question. Needless to say, the degree of customization is exciting.
The User Interface is visually appealing and easy to use. The options in the game only requiring a click of the mouse to change.
For the moment, the game includes character creation as well as an intro, but the quality of their work is really top notch, and the quality of their game easily explains its rapidly growing popularity. Its definitely one to watch.
For those of you who are interested, you can find their Patreon page here:

Give the intro that's already there a play. I made an effort to set it up so that the player can either treat the girls good or bad in the intro, and the rest of the game will have those same kinds of options. I personally LOVE games where you take someone or something that is broken, then pour your heart into making things right for them. If you've ever played a game called "Teaching Feeling: Live with a slave: you'll have a pretty good idea of the feel I want the game to have for some of its lighter paths. Alternately, there's going to be a BDSM dungeon in the basement for people who want to take the game in a very different direction, and then there will be plenty in between as well.

2017-08-23 21:47:46 +0000 UTCWell, if Inheritance is going to develop a worthwhile romance angle, I might get interested in it, and brothel sim management may or may not appeal to my inner optimizer as sim, RPG, and strategic games often do. But my typical power fantasies about unlimited supernatural power simply don't involve the sexual field much (with the exception of shapeshifting and mind control) so BDSM usually leaves me quite cold and bored. Much the same way, horror (including the Lovecraft Mythos) registers as boring and incomprehensible to me, so I'm only to enjoy it if I see it as something else, such as fantasy, action, or mystery. I apply the same lens to Allure of Wanton Cove, to me it's an interesting dark fantasy/mystery TG/TF erotica story.

2017-08-23 21:33:59 +0000 UTCThe $350 was cherry picked from a Patreon page (I follow them but don't pledge) and that level is for a bad end written for the game for you, but still, . . . They don't actually have anyone pledged at the $350 level, but they do have one at $200, and two more at their $100 level. Patreon is to help you build a fan base for your project, not find that one rich person who will pay all your bills for you, . . . How I try to set things up is to have my games available at the entry level (Wanton Cove has a free build, then perks for a pledge. But that's because it started as a free project and I didn't feel it would be right to charge something for a project people had been playing for free all this time. Instead, the Patreon started out as kind of a tip jar.), then add perks at higher levels for things like cheat menu and access to art.). Let people enjoy the game, its how you increase exposure for your project. If they like it, and they are able, they'll support you.

2017-08-23 21:17:50 +0000 UTCI totally sympathize with your stance, but dear Universe, $350 pledge for a single game? And someone is paying for it? And here I was thinking of myself as a borderline irresponsible, self-indulgent geek for my Patreon bill having grown to $150 for 16 games. I suppose there are much wealthier, more indulgent, or more dedicated people than me out there.

2017-08-23 21:03:39 +0000 UTCYou are right in that its unfair to compare games to other games. However, its in our nature to draw similarities between things for understanding. What is currently in this game is VERY similar to NewLife, but as you say, as the game grows it is very likely to start distinguishing itself in a lot of ways.

2017-08-23 12:46:33 +0000 UTCI think it's unfair to keep comparing this game to newlife. But what do I know since everyone is seeming to do it. Yes you create a character in both games but there isnt much of game play yet and its a completely different engine. That's just mho but it's good to see the shout out. It is a fun game already even with it being very early in development. i always look forward to updates from this game.

2017-08-23 05:18:20 +0000 UTCYep, that's how I see it too. People tend to share what they enjoy, and they're more likely to part with a dollar than twenty. (What some people ask for is NUTS. I've seen $5 just to access a Patreon's comments, . . . And saw one person who literally had a $350 pledge level, . . . . ) I would much rather create a sense of community about my projects than a small group who fills my wallet anyway. Every time I see someone pledge, I have to smile and think "Someone liked it!" And when its all said and done, the money might help pay the bills, but its the fact that so many people enjoy my work that keeps me excited to work on Wanton Cove and Inheritance every chance I get.

2017-08-23 01:20:02 +0000 UTCThat way is aways better, more people playing means more to spred the word, thats why kickstarters need to be funded by many people, showing interest is more important than the money itself.

2017-08-22 23:54:18 +0000 UTCIt always seemed to me that its better to have a large fan base than a hand full of people giving you a bigger payday. That's why I make sure to have a cheap version of my projects available, then offer other perks to people who want to give a little more. But that's just my mind set on it. Don't worry about Wanton Cove concluding any time soon. Right now, we're nearing the completion of the primary storyline, but there are a lot of mysteries hinted at in the setting that I'd like to explore in more detail once the main story is completed. Version 1.0 will ultimately only be about 1/3 of the game by the time I finish everything I have planned for it. For Inheritance, yes there will be d/s themes, but I want the game to be much more than that. Eventually, I want it to be something you can play as a BDSM sim, a brothel sim, or even as a heartfelt romance. Given my personal preferences, I suspect that there will be an emphasis on nurturing your new slaves for much of it. Give Inheritance enough time to flesh out a bit, then take a look at it to see if it meets your expectations. ;)

2017-08-22 23:04:40 +0000 UTCYou're welcome. As things stand, the most expensive pledges on my list include Trap Quest, Dating My Daughter, Good Girl Gone Bad, and Katie's Corruption, usually for the sake of early release, extra content, or cheats. As a rule, I'm a sucker for well-written TG or corruption TF HTML or Ren'Py games esp. with sci-fi/fantasy elements, so Allure of Wanton Cove definitely fits my interests and fetishes, and I'm very thankful it is good quality and belongs among my least expensive pledges. Admittedly Inheritance's d/s themes appeal little to me despite the quality of your work, but something for everybody.

2017-08-22 22:11:54 +0000 UTCLooks like you have some real gems on your pledge list. I'm flattered that my projects keep such noteworthy company. :D

2017-08-22 21:42:49 +0000 UTCAlready noticed this and greatly fancied its TG story potential and hyper-customizable character creation. I'm planning to become a patron when the game gets somewhat more content or access to cheats is walled off. My Patreon bill is already crushing and getting worse every time I cannot withstand temptation to get early release or cheats access to some game I fancy, so I need to exercise some restraint where I can.

2017-08-22 21:22:59 +0000 UTCYou're welcome! When I find authors who I really enjoy, or I think they have a lot of potential, I will often send out a message to them and see if they'd be interested in doing a little cross advertising like this. In this case, I think if the author keeps at it they will do VERY well for themselves. And you are right, there's always something special about trying out a new game where the creator has put honest effort and a lot of love into their project. Even if it proves to not be the kind of game you usually play, you can still appreciate the hard work and talent that has gone into it. Hope you enjoy this game. I know that for me, once its got a bit of interactive content into it, its going straight into my "Favorite Games" folder. :D
