Inheritance Estate Gate Art

While I may not have been as productive as I had hoped today, our artists seem to have been VERY productive!

I've shared this before, but I'll start here since I'm doing a full breakdown of the art pieces.  This is the revised sketch displaying the front gate of the protagonist's new estate.

This next one is the inking of the gate itself.    I told the artist that it looked a bit too clean and asked if they could dirty it up a little bit, make it look aged.  I also mentioned that this would require to have the tree lined drive leading towards the house.

This next one starts to bring the image together.  The aging of the brick and metal looked good, making the whole thing look less sterile.  The background sketch for the drive gave the overall feel I was looking for, so I asked them to continue.  At this point I emphasized that we need several versions including Day, Overcast, Rainy Day, Night, and Rainy Night.

This is the "Day" version.  I really liked how it came together.  Its nice enough to be its own art, but at the same times I hope its subtle enough to not draw attention away from the characters when they are present.

This next one is the image for "Overcast" weather.  I had actually received a version of this that I thought was a little too well lit and I asked the artist to darken it quite a bit.  Since we want to present a range of weather in the game, it necessitates a range of images to accommodate that.  This is part of that.

This next image includes the rain effect.  This one is for "Rainy" weather during the day.  It uses the "Overcast" variant of the picture with the rain effect layered over it.  I really liked how the rain looked in the image.

This next one is the "Night" version of the image.  Like the "Overcast" version, I thought the original version was too bright by far, so I asked them to darken it significantly.  This is the result, I was really happy with this one.  The night effect looked great.

This final version is the night time rain effect.   While I liked the night effect for this image, the rain looked great with it.  Couldn't have been happier with this one.

And that's the end of what I received today.  As mentioned in passing above, the game will eventually include weather effects.  This picture range is intended to reflect that range of weather.

The "Day" version will appear in the game's intro as part of that image series.  The rest of them will be saved for once the mansion grounds and weather effects have been added to the game.  So it may be a while before they appear within the game even though they are complete.

With these done, the artist sounds eager to continue, having asked my preference for which images should come next!  I'm excited to see more art as it arrives!
