The Allure of Wanton Cove: Art Breakdown

I commissioned four pieces of art for Wanton Cove this month, the first one arrived today.

This one happens to be the dream scene on the second night, where you're in the water, surrounded by Deep Ones.

Original Sketch:

I really didn't care for this one. I asked the artist to bring the water level up, no more than head and shoulders above water for the protagonist and the deep ones should be below the water line.

Second Sketch:

The artist threw together another quick sketch based on a few things we talked about. One of which is that I wanted just one Deep One in focus and the others present but not really clear. I told them this would make a good starting point.

First Inked image:

I liked the overall feel of this one even though its was a pretty rough draft. The first thing that stood out to me that it was far too bright, I mentioned that to the artist and asked them to continue.

Second Inking:

With a little bit of atmosphere and a fairly major decrease in light, I was very happy with how this one looked. Artist even mentioned that he had a lot of fun putting together the water effect. This one looked good enough that I told him to put his final touches on the image and send the completed works to me. Basically just a bit of resizing to be done.
