The Allure of Wanton Cove: Progress Report
Added 2017-12-12 03:10:54 +0000 UTCIts been an interesting day on this front. Not quite what I had expected when I sat down to work, but productive all the same.
When I started working this morning, I had set out to write about 3k words of content (Figured if I can match that three days running this week, I could finish up the night 9 scene and add a little bit of other content, plus start carving a dent into what I have planned for the endgame scene.) With about six hours of work today, I wrote about half that much, but that's only because I ended up spending the bulk of that time planning and restructuring the entire game's end.
I wrote the bulk of the night 9 scene, choices earlier in the story can result in about a dozen different ways the scene can play out so far.
The big time sink today though was that I decided to handle the endgame. On the grounds that the only thing to do on day 10 is to play through the game's ending, I decided that instead of leaving the player to bumble around looking for each piece of the ending, it would be much more efficient to simply treat it like one large interactive scene broken into three distinct parts.
I'll be trying to knock the first two of those out for this next release, then hopefully put a dent in that last segment (Last one is going to be a pretty substantial piece of work.)
Goal will be to finish putting together the next build either tomorrow or the next day. Then the late end of the week will be spent working on that final scene in the hopes of making it more manageable going into the following build.
What does the change mean to you guys? Basically it means that instead of slipping back into the sandbox setting you're all used to, you'll slip into a large interactive scene that will end the game when you reach the end of the current content.
More importantly, its going to save me a LOT of work on the coding end of things.

Thanks, I'll check it out when I have a little time this evening.
