What comes after Wanton Cove?
Added 2017-12-14 23:44:09 +0000 UTCSince I'm going to be spending a LOT of time in a car with nothing better to do than think, I thought this would be as good a time as any to get everyone's thoughts on what I should start planning for once Wanton Cove is complete in a few months. (Besides, this topic has come up a lot recently, so its kind of on my mind.)
My creative process usually involves me finding an idea I want to run with, then just thinking about it for a week or two, rolling around ideas and letting the setting take shape. Once I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do, then I actually sit down and start to write down my ideas and start planning the project's creation. Even once the planning starts, it can potentially take months before a project starts to become something that can be shown off. Look at Inheritance. I started planning for that about a year ago now, it was a couple of months before I released a proof of concept build, and the official builds didn't start coming out until just the last couple of months.
All of that said, I'll share some of the projects I've been thinking about, some of them I have planned out fairly well already, some of them are barely a seed of an idea.
Aftermath: This is a project I started planning a couple of years ago now. The concept is fairly well refined and there's even a proof of concept build out. Basically the game is a post apocalyptic game set in a universe similar to Fallout, only with lots of sex and gender swap guns.
Futa Apocalypse: My very first project was Futa Apocalypse. I've been toying with the idea of rebooting the setting as kind of a survival/resource management style game where you would be able to find survivors, scavenge for supplies, and build settlements as you try to survive. Think Shemale Zombies, instead of them wanting to eat your brains to make you one of them, they want to fuck you senseless instead.
Unnamed Sci-Fi Game: This is a fairly recent idea I had. I was thinking about doing a kind of survival horror set in space (Think Dead Space or Alien). Making the main character some form of shapeshifter (Not sure if you'd be human at the start and gain TFs through play, or something else.) who is stuck on a space ship or space station and has to get off safely before its too late.
I have other game ideas on the back burner as well, but they are feel-good games like Inheritance, so I'd like the second project to be something other than those to give myself something different to work on when I shift between projects. Diversity is the spice of life after all.
Now, here's what I would like from all of you:
Do you have any additional ideas for games? Want to see another lovecraftian game? Something else? Want to offer refinements to any of my suggested ideas? Pitch me your ideas! What would YOU like me to create? I'll take the top few ideas I see and put them in a poll some time next week. Whatever's in the lead when I get ready to leave on my trip will be what I start planning in my free time.

A good story should keep you thinking about it once you've completed the tale. If you answer all of the questions, then you loose a lot of the wonder.

2017-12-17 23:37:47 +0000 UTCYeah, the taint took a lot of careful planning. I wanted to create a slide into depravity to accompany the changes, but at the same time I wanted that shift to come off as natural so people didn't feel forced, like it was a natural progression instead.

2017-12-17 21:47:15 +0000 UTC+Ver Greeneyes: I understand, though I save often before decisions and make a clean save at the first decision as well so I can go both ways in separate saves, if I don't like something or I reached a bad end I just load a save and prevent the taint from reaching over the threshold :p The patron version allows you to cheat your stats so you can experience all sides no matter what choices you made. I enjoyed the taint side a lot, not that I am a great fan of becoming a female in-game but the sheer depravity of what follows as if you've chosen to become a slave to nymphomania and you're paying the price for it. Especially loving the in-between scenes that show that the character is aware of the changes and slowly start to enjoy them, that's precisely the kind of Corruption I love in erotica.

2017-12-17 21:45:28 +0000 UTCI have a rule for myself in Wanton Cove: Never answer a question without creating at least two more along the way. I think that's what made the old X-Files show so special, they always answered the questions they set out to find answers to, but in doing so, they always created another question that was at least as big as the one they just resolved. I think its a really good formula for any mystery/horror/suspense story. The fountain is a plot hook I've wanted to further explore for a very long time, and its one of the three big items I insist are written before I'm willing to declare the game truly "complete." Thank you for the link, that's a book I've had on my list for a very long time, I've just never had the funds to buy it at any time that I was thinking of it. It looks like it might be a fun read. Have you ever read anything from Edward Lee? https://www.amazon.com/Innswich-Horror-Edward-Jr-Lee/dp/193638311X/ref=sr_1_9?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1513360425&sr=1-9&keywords=Edward+Lee

2017-12-15 17:54:34 +0000 UTCHave you already flipped through https://www.amazon.com/Cthulhurotica-Carrie-Cuinn/dp/0983137307 ? All your ideas sound wonderful and fun.. if I had to vote / suggest? Mystery monster horror, leaving stuff to imagination (the description at the fountain still calls to me).. maybe something you can keep open longer, so as you work to close new mysteries new ones are being set out (ideally if there's a way to port saves so you could release in chapters for minor versions and only have to restart at major revisions)... And I'll always vote for games that have paths which push the taboo and squeek envelope cause they tend to offer things to visualize / consider that aren't there in every other game. But end of the day, if it's horror mystery monsters.. gonna like it. :)

2017-12-15 14:19:06 +0000 UTCThe main problem I have with a Futa Apocalypse type scenario is the same problem I kind of have with Wanton Cove: I want to enjoy the content and continue to progress without feeling like I've irreversibly changed myself in a way that I don't want. It would be great if there was some sort of serum or immunity mechanic, maybe something that isn't available initially but which you can unlock by playing your cards right (e.g. by solving an optional puzzle or completely abstaining until a certain point). That would also allow for more positive interactions with sentient futas. Incidentally, does Azumi's father's tea serve a purpose yet? I need to find some time to play WC again and let myself go a bit more ;)

2017-12-15 08:14:10 +0000 UTCThanks for that link. It looked to me that while I approach some of it a little bit differently, I'm of a very similar mindset on much of what he said. I enjoyed listening to the video very much, even if I have to wonder if he was reading my notes in places. :P

2017-12-15 06:52:52 +0000 UTCFuta Apocalypse is a setting I created a few years ago (Got a CHYOA story over on chyoa.com, plus a game by the same name over on TFGamesSite, even ran a couple of short roleplaying campaigns in the setting) that I have worked with quite a bit. Hermaphrodites, "Sentient Futa", and partial transformations have all come up in conversation about the setting. In the end, I decided that Hermaphrodites are fine, but they wouldn't be any more common than they are in real life. Sentient Futa is an interesting idea, but I thought it actually took away from the horror of the setting (Basically, loosing your mind and reason means that you don't just suffer a physical change, you loose yourself as well.) And partial transformations have been explored to a small degree (Basically, if you have access to a steady supply of the cure, you can stop the changes, but you can still infect others once you hit a certain point, you can no longer be a source of the cure, and failure to receive a steady supply of the cure means that the changes pick right back up where they left off.) though there is no long term way to maintain a partial transformation.

2017-12-15 04:11:13 +0000 UTCI don't know, hermaphroditism can be disputed as the result of a post-apocalyptic mutation :p But I trust your imagination after what I've seen so far, we'll see what you eventually decide what will come next.

2017-12-15 03:57:42 +0000 UTCIf I were to do a Futa Apocalypse game, you would have the ability to build the character you want, make or female, and build relationships with other characters within the setting. As for hermaphroditic characters, it would be somewhat unlikely that something like that would appear in that particular setting.

2017-12-15 03:42:12 +0000 UTCI always liked the post apocalyptic settings in ero games, something about it says lawlessness and allows all sorts of depravities to unfold. Don't mind the futa zombies but please don't forget the pussies, hope some characters would be like Azumi that go bothways, or having a corruption meter that changes your body into female was good too, keeps the straight players around ;)

2017-12-15 03:34:22 +0000 UTCwatch this vid and let it inspire you on your endeavors, don't use it litteraly, try to get a grasp of the concept. I think the way you think about your games makes you have potential to explore this area, and who knows, you might gather enough interesting data and experience that you might be able to sell some of it to the big AAA companies :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p40p0AVUH70
