General Update

After all the reading I did over the last couple of days, I decided to give myself a bit of a break today (I try to take weekends off anyway, though I do find myself working weekends more often than not.  Shame on me.) and haven't really been doing much work related (Replied to a couple of messages earlier today, but even that was fairly minimal).  Going to go treat my family to dinner this evening and binge watch something on netflix tonight, . . . .

Weekly Poll:  It looks like The Therapist is taking the lead right now for the poll, with Wanton Cove being the runner up.  If nothing changes between now and tomorrow morning (Or maybe late tonight if I get an irresistible urge to write) I'll work on The Therapist this week.

My goal for The Therapist will be to write at least one fully interactive scene in the event chain I have been contributing to that game.  Once that is done, I'll look at how much more time I have for the week, then either shift my attention to a second scene for that game or write a little more gloryhole content for that game.  If I start feeling burnt out on that game, I'll probably look to do a little work front loading content for the next build of Wanton Cove.

This week:  I'll be jumping right into the week's poll winner tomorrow morning and hopefully get off to a good start.  Presumably, looking at the current poll numbers, that will be The Therapist.  The way scenes are written for that game can be pretty complex, but if all goes well I am hopeful I can get at least one major scene written by the middle of this week with the intent to do ground work for the next two (The next three scenes will have some significant similarities mechanically, so hopefully I can find a way to set things up to make adding future content a fairly minimal task.  I'm hoping it can be done in a way that the second and third events in the set will take less work between both of them than the first does by itself.  I think I have an idea, . . . . )

Assuming that The Therapist wins this week's poll, this week (And next) will be just a little different than usual.   A "normal" week involves me writing during the week, releasing a new build for whatever I worked on the week before, then releasing a test build for whatever I work on during the current week with the intention of it being tested over the coming week and being ready to release as the new build at the end of the following week.  This week if The Therapist wins will not have a test build at the end of the week (The Therapist is not my game.  I have an exchange with the current head of that project.  They help me with testing and coding my projects, I do a bit of writing for their project from time to time.  Its a mutually beneficial arrangement.)  Next week, since there would be no test build this week, would not have a new release.  That said, I try to release new builds on Fridays, and with next month being a five Friday month, odds are pretty good we'll still see four releases next month.

And now you know the tentative plan for this coming week.  I'll post an update when I have something worth reporting!

Comments

This is less a case of taking a break, and more a case of working on a side project for a week. ;) That said, having a change of pace like this is something I always find refreshing and makes me excited to get back to my own projects again. :D

We all need a break from time to time :) You'll be more creative after a few days off (if you can afford it) Cheers! πŸ‘
