Inheritance Progress Report

Going to start by mentioning that I don't usually post a a progress report this close to a release (Expect the new build of Wanton Cove to be up within about an hour of the time I post this.), but I've got a lot to report today, so I wanted to make sure to let you all know what's going on:

Looks like I screwed up on a little side project where I was creating content for another game.  Not sure what exactly happened, but the end result is that we can't find the last half of some content that was created.  I'll be spending some time in the next couple of days trying to get that all caught back up to where it was supposed to be.

Now on to some better news:

-Commissioned two pieces of background art from a new artist for Inheritance today.  The plan is to do two up front as a way of making sure the art style looks right, then commission additional art later if everything looks good.  Pricing is a little higher than I had hoped for, but we were able to negotiate things a little bit and came to an arrangement we were both comfortable with.

-One of our coders was hard at work today.  Color inversion has been added to Inheritance for people who prefer white backgrounds with black text.  They also let me know that they've got the cleaning mechanic started and that its coming together nicely. (Cleaning will become a factor when the NPCs start moving around the way they are intended to.)

-Talked with the coders about making some kind of shortcut to reach scenes.  It sounds like its doable.  What this means is that eventually we will be creating some form of data entry box in the Cheat Menu that will allow you to enter the name of the scene you want to see, then assuming you have the conditions for it, you can force that scene to play.  I'm hoping it can be done in such a way that it will tell you what conditions you haven't met are as well, but time will tell.

-Wrote and added another interactive scene for Eve today, this is the "Kiss" section of the first parallel seduction event chain.  REALLY liked how the first kiss came out.  

-Got some early art for the latest Wanton Cove commission.  Asked for a couple of small adjustments, but I was generally very happy with what I received.

-rfpnj put together some fun little emojis for our Discord.  Made my day.


All in all, even if I only fit in about three hours of actual writing, it was an amazingly productive day.  


Now, off to take care of a couple of little things, then I'll be back to post our new Wanton Cove build!

This is actually a conversation I had with one of our coders yesterday. In a normal game it would work the way you describe. However with this there is a LOT of content being tracked on every page, and if that information is not loaded properly it can cause problems within the game. In Wanton Cove, a simple shortcut is possible, Inheritance, . . . not so much. We want to ensure there is a decent amount of content within the mansion before we start expanding into additional locations. The next area will be the Mansion Grounds, followed by the local Town, then other places. I want +2 events specific to each girl in all available time slots in every location within the mansion before I spend much time expanding into the grounds around it. This question gets asked enough that I may need to address it sooner rather than later though. The lab is going to allow you to create concoctions that can fully customize the girls, everything from gender, to skin tone, to hair color, breast size, or anything else, will be adjustable. Skills will be trainable in game eventually. We're working on the paper doll system and movement right now, once those are in place the focus shifts to creating the customization items. To create items, some things will need to be purchased in town eventually, other things you will grow components in your greenhouse

About the forcing scenes.... Why don't you just create a menu entry in the left menu that has links to all the non-forcible scenes. I don't know too much about how twine works with if statements, but you should be able to set the links up to display ONLY if certain conditions are met, and that way all the player needs to do is open that menu, see what scenes are available, click on the link to jump to that entry. I also had a couple questions about the game. Do you guys plan on adding in the outside? What about leaving the mansion and going to the city, maybe taking the girls on a date outside the mansion? What about shopping, adding in stores for different things to add to the house, or gifts for the girls (because I hate that the girls are stuck in such crappy clothes, and the crappy board games, I want to give them better QOL (Quality of life).). Was also curious about what your plans are for the Lab in the basement, what kinds of things will we be able to create? Also will there be any way to increase our knowledge, education, or skills so we can make different kinds of what ever the room can do for us?
