Inheritance Art Breakdown
Added 2018-05-06 15:36:56 +0000 UTCThis one has been a long time in coming, and its taken a very interesting evolution.
This image is from the game Inheritance and is for when the protagonist fist sees Anna.
First draft:
Overall, I liked the composition. However I asked the artist to open her eyes, and to move her hands so that the letter was resting across her palms instead of clutched in front of her as you see here.

Second draft:
Now, this one was exactly what I was picturing. I told the artist that I liked how this one looked and told them to run with it.

Third version:
Now, I'm not sure exactly what went wrong here, maybe I explained something wrong, maybe they misunderstood, who knows. The end result however was that they inked the wrong sketch and sent it my way. It's a beautiful piece, but not the one I wanted to place in that location within the game.

Sent with the third version:
This one arrived at about the same time as the one above. This kind of led me to believe that the artist had simply not understood what I was asking for since the location for the background was wrong. As above, I loved how the image looked, but its not what I wanted for that place in the story. Besides, the backgrounds are a separate image for the most part and the background for this particular image has yet to be completed (Just commissioned a version of it this last month.)

Now, everything above? That had been done around October of this last year. I'd poked and prodded the artist about completing the image correctly ever since, and just a couple of days ago I was surprised to see the completed version sent my way.
Six months later than I had hoped for, but it was exactly what I was looking for! I was very happy to see this image arrive.

Hope you've all enjoyed another art breakdown!
