I recently found a new place to advertise The Allure of Wanton Cove, but the site needed a new cover image for the sake of advertising. As such, I commissioned the piece I am sharing with you right now.
I told our artist that I wanted a new image and that is was a bit of a rush job. I didn't have any specifics in mind so I mentioned that I wanted to capture the feel of the game and it had to include some obvious Lovecraftian references. He did NOT disappoint.
The initial sketch:

For this, I honestly didn't know what all I was looking at when it first arrived. Once I did, I liked where we were headed with it. I asked that we move Zal'chaas to one side and continue but we would look at it again before going much further.
Second sketch:

The composition of this one felt much better. I asked that we use the "closer" variant, and mentioned the town on the island. We also talked about backlighting Zal'chaas with a bolt of lightning at this stage.
Third image:

At this point, I mentioned I liked the docks. I asked that we bring the number of Deep Ones down to 2-3, then said I think one Deep One climbing onto the stone near Zal'chaas would look nice. I also asked that we add the mansion on the bluff, possibly backlit with lightning as well.
Fourth Image:

At this stage, I asked that the lighting be darkened significantly everywhere not highligted by the lightning. We talked about some highlighting of the images including a little light shining through the head fins and redoing the eyes a little. Also asked to have Michael Jordan removed from the water.
Fifth Image:

I really thought this one turned out incredibly well. I gave the artist the go ahead to add some detail work to the image.
Sixth Image:

I received this one literally like an hour ago. Looked amazing and I green lit the final versions.
Final Without Text:

I asked for this version so I could use it as a wallpaper.
This one is for the advertisement:

Was incredibly happy with this image, especially since it came together over just three days time. Hope you all enjoyed the new art!
