IMPORTANT:

Got a little unpleasantness to get out of the way.

It has recently come to my attention that one or more people has been sharing the Patreon builds of my projects on various sites online.  I've seen the latest build of Inheritance pop up in several places now.

I have always tried to share free versions of my work with the community.  In the case of Wanton Cove, the free version only lacks the Cheat Menu.  In the case of Inheritance it is through early access with the old version becoming the new free version when a new build is released (Bug fix builds are treated as part of the most recent build family rather than a new build in this case)

I completely understand wanting to share your favorite games with others who would enjoy them.  I recommend games that I enjoy all the time, and I encourage all of you to share the free versions of my games with anyone who might enjoy them.  It always becomes a bright spot on my day when I find my work on a new site where people can enjoy it.

Now, I'm sure it's just one or two people, and I'm fairly certain that there is no ill will intended, but to those of you who have been posting the supporter builds of my projects on other sites, can you please refrain from doing so?  There's a free version for a reason.  In the last two days, I've spent close to four hours messaging users of sites and messaging owners of sites about this very issue.  And that's time I could have better spent writing.

With all of that BS out of the way, time to get to work!  I outlined six new scenes last night and started two of them!  Going to start taking the first few steps toward letting the main character be a jerk to the girls.  ;)  I feel like we're getting a fair amount of content related to mid/high relationship values, and much of the submission work that has been coming in has been in that range as well, so for this build I think I'll be working on a little bit of low end content.

The only ones I've personally seen are your publicly available versions posted, which, considering your prolific sharing of updates (A GOOD THING!), is pretty cool, it was one of those which drew me to support your inheritance project (not particularly interested in the rest, but I don't mind). If you don't wish your supporter versions posted, thats your choice, and totally fair :D

Thank you for the vote of confidence. I don't know that "Mature" is the right word to describe me, but I make an effort to look at things objectively and to keep a level head.

Aftermath Team

... man you are more mature than the people i'm used to.

Feel free to PM me over on TFGamesSite. I'd love to talk shop. Share places we both post our work, share a bit of constructive criticism. If you're interested.

Aftermath Team

Nailed it.

Aftermath Team

the issue is not sharing, but rather that some builds are mean to be the once to pay for, if not the free one is usless.

One day I expect to die - crushed by a wall of text :P Thanks for the comment, I still have a long way to go to catch up to the top authors on the site but I am going to do my best to compete with you. Always enjoyed The Cove. Take care <3

I understand that completely. I'm just trying to set a precedence. I'm hoping that by saying something now that I might be able to prevent it from becoming a wide spread problem down the road. On a side note, I actually downloaded your project just yesterday through TFGamesSite. I played a little bit of it last night and hope to play a bit more later today time permitting. Really top notch stuff from what I have seen so far! Constructive Criticism: Put a couple of spaces between characters or something, otherwise they all blend together. Name, Image, Notes, Double space before next character.

It is all a matter of perspective. I think you should be proud that people are passionate enough about your work to want to share it all costs. People do not "copyright infringe" things that are bad. You already admitted that when you see your work on a new site it is worth more than a smile, this doesn't necessarily have to be different. I always have the same reaction. I don't think it is worth going after the free sites merely because they represent a group of people that infrequently pays and is notoriously difficult to deal with/ quash. You are literally asking cheaters to play by the rules and not download your cheater build... heh. It is also free advertising to a different demographic and increases your fan base and visibility- and you will be able to convert a small % into dedicated fans and then a portion of those into subscribers. I wish more sites would pirate Transfigure but I think I release to public quickly enough that it makes piracy sort of pointless. You are more established than I am though. Anyway, it is your work so feel free to shoot pirates on sight as you see fit. Have a good one.

I agree, which is why I sent private messages first asking if they would change out their posts for the free builds and tried to handle it delicately. To the site mods I have messaged I've tried to handle it politely as well, but did bring up DMCA with them just so they would know I take the issue seriously (In a couple of cases, the sites even had a place to send pull down requests.) No amount of angry ever seems to fix problems. If a person wants people to listen then they articulate their thoughts and present them in a respectful manner. The above doesn't come off as too confrontational did it? I intended it as a polite request to stop.

Aftermath Team

with all possible respect; the only action you should ever take for things like this is "a polite request". any time spent trying to prevent this won't benefit you for a very simple reason; if they would stop at all, they will at the polite request. if they wouldn't at the polite request, then they won't ever. sorry that stuff's happening to you, and your work.
