Inheritance Progress Report

It looks like Inheritance has a solid lead in the poll this weekend, and as such I actually found a bit of time to work on it today.

Our sponsor level Patron has requested that I add Karaoke to the game.  Since this is something I was planning to set up in some of the local bars anyway, I figured this was a really good excuse to set up a smaller version of the function for in the mansion itself  At present, I've written the intro for it, two songs (One with Anna singing, one with Eve), and about twenty smaller snips of content related to it.  In total, something around 3k words of content so far for the function.  How things stand right now, I want to write a minimum of four more songs that can play out (One for Anna, one for Eve, and two for the protagonist.) and all of the code still needs to be written for it, though much of it is going to be easily adapted from the random scene content we've already got in the game.

Why is this exciting you might wonder?  Well, beyond the simple fact that Eve singing "Like a Virgin" is hilarious,  one of the big things related to this is that every scene is going to be piecemealed together from several bits of content.  This is a function I have been wanting to do for quite a while and is going to see heavy use related to the pregnancy function, as well as going to play a part in the rebuild of the meal time content .  Basically, this is the first step toward creating scenes that can play out differently every time you play them, regardless of relationship stats.  Lets take the karaoke content I mentioned above for an example of what I'm doing.  The core song is an event that doesn't have a lot of variation beyond the possibility of relationship checks that might affect how they behave at times.  However, the twenty smaller scenes will actually be able to play out in the middle of that scene based on who is present, relationship stats, or anything else I want to use.  So you might play the scene one time and have one person clapping along to the music, and another singing along with the person performing the song.  The next time you see the same song, the singer may make a mistake part way through and a particularly affectionate singer may cast you a meaningful look.  With 6 scenes planned for the function's initial release, and 20 smaller pieces already written for it, there are huge implications for how diverse the possibilities can become within even a single scene.

Right now it looks like tomorrow should be wide open, so if all goes well I should be able to write another 2-4 scenes for the function then and once I get a reply from our coders on a question I'll be able to start coding it.

Week hasn't even started yet, and we've already got some good progress.

Have yourselves a wonderful evening.  I'm pretty excited about what all is coming down the pipe and I'm very excited about the prospect of getting to share it with all of you!
